Due to the spread of the new coronavirus, the release of the anime movie “Nakitai Watashi wa Neko wo Kaburu” has been postponed and will be available exclusively on Netflix worldwide from Jun. 18, 2020. In addition, comments have been received from Shida Mirai and Hanae Natsuki, who starred in the film, and directors Satou Jun'ichi and Shibayama Tomotaka.

“Nakitai Watashi wa Neko wo Kaburu” is a youth fantasy story about Sasaki Miyo, an eccentric 2nd-grade junior high school student who was given the nickname “Muge” (Infinite Mystery Human).
Since she is very attracted to her classmate Kento Hinode, the other protagonist of the story, she gets close to him every day, but he doesn't seem to be interested in her at all. Even so, she continues to approach him secretly…

The film is co-directed by Satou Jun'ichi, who worked on “Sailor Moon” and “Sgt. Frog”, and Shibayama Tomotaka, who worked on “Spirited Away” and other productions at Studio Ghibli. Okada Mari, who is known for her works in “Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day”, “Her Blue Sky”, etc., is in charge of the screenplay.
The cast also includes Shida Mirai (voice of Sasaki Miyo), who also participated as a voice actor in “The Secret World of Arrietty” and “The Wind Rises”, and Hanae Natsuki (voice of Kento Hinode), who is known for his roles in “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba” as Kamado Tanjirou and “Tokyo Ghoul” as Kaneki Ken/Sasaki Haise.

The animated movie “Nakitai Watashi wa Neko wo Kaburu” will be distributed exclusively on Netflix worldwide from Jun. 18, 2020, in a total of 28 languages.

Shida Mirai (Muge/Sasaki Miyo, Cat/Tarou)
It has been decided that the film will be distributed exclusively on Netflix after the postponement of its theatrical release. I am so relieved and happy to know that we will be able to deliver this film safely to the fans who have been waiting for it, even though various works have been postponed recently.
I think that the entertainment industry is one of the things that can make you feel happy in these days of difficulty and stay-at-home restrictions. Also, many fans are looking forward to seeing the film, so I hope that as many of them as possible will able to watch it, though the delivery method has changed.
Lastly, this work is filled with kindness and thoughtfulness, so I would be happy if it could make your hearts feel healed even a little bit.

Hanae Natsuki (Kento Hinode)
I'm Hanae Natsuki, the voice of Kento Hinode. We are pleased to announce that “Nakitai Watashi wa Neko wo Kaburu” will be available on Netflix instead of being released in theaters.
It's a shame we will not able to see it in theaters, but I think it's a good thing that we can deliver it to the fans in these days of stay-at-home restrictions.
“Nakineko” is a work that conveys the importance of people's feelings to each other and the courage to take a step forward.
This is a wonderful film that I hope a wide range of generations will enjoy watching while thinking of the people they love. Stay tuned for it!
