An additional cast member has been announced for “Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045” (broadcast on Apr. 23), a Netflix original anime and the latest work of “Ghost in the Shell” series. Hayashibara Megumi will play the role of Shimamura Takashi, a “Post-Human” who holds the key to the story.
“Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045” is a full 3DCG animation and the latest work in the “Ghost in the Shell” series. Directed by Kamiyama Kenji, who is known for “Ghost in the Shell S.A.C.”, and Aramaki Shinji, who is known for “APPLESEED”, the film is co-produced by Production I.G and SOLA DIGITAL ARTS, and will be distributed exclusively on Netflix worldwide from Apr. 23, 2020.
It is a sci-fi political action work in which the story is set in the year 2045. With the outbreak of the economic crisis, “global simultaneous default” shaking all nations along with the tremendous progress of AI, the world has entered a systematic yet “Sustainable War”. In these times, the former Public Security Division 9 (a.k.a. Ghost in the Shell), led by Kusanagi Motoko, faces a “Post-Human” with marvelous intellectual and physical abilities.
Hayashibara Megumi will join the cast by playing the role of Shimamura Takashi, one of the mysterious “Post-Human” who holds the key to the story. Shimamura, a 14-year-old junior high school student, is one of three people who awakened as Post-Human in Japan.
The production will consist of 12 episodes of season 1, and a 2nd season has already been announced.
