From the movie “Fullmetal Alchemist: Revenge Scar” (to be released on May 20), the third installment of the “Fullmetal Alchemist ‘PERFECT GUIDE’”, “#3 MESSAGE,” is now available. In the program, messages from Arakawa Hiromu, the author of the original work, and Park Romi, who plays Ed in the animated version, are available for viewing in preparation for the final version of the film.
“Fullmetal Alchemist” is a battle fantasy series by Arakawa Hiromu that began serialization in “Monthly Shōnen Gangan” in 2001 and gained popularity for its appealing characters, elaborate storyline, and one-of-a-kind worldview.
In a live-action diptych announced as a new project to mark the 20th anniversary of the serialization, the first movie, “Fullmetal Alchemist,” was released in December 2017 and was a huge hit, grossing approximately 1.2 billion yen at the box office. The sequel films, “Fullmetal Alchemist: Revenge Scar” and “Fullmetal Alchemist: the Final Alchemy” will be released nationwide on May 20 and June 24, respectively.
The third installment of the “Fullmetal Alchemist ‘PERFECT GUIDE’”, “#3 MESSAGE,” has now been released. The narration is by Hongou Kanata, who plays Envy in the movie version.
The program also introduces a message from the original author, Arakawa Hiromu. Arakawa said, “I was really happy to have Ed and Al’s journey drawn out to the end. The original story is condensed, and the events are so packed. I really hope that fans of the original work will watch the film, because it really is all a highlight.”
A message from Park Romi, who plays the main character Ed in the anime version, was also released. The film includes footage of her visit with Yamada Ryosuke, who stars in the live-action version, to the “20th Anniversary Fullmetal Alchemist Exhibition RETURNS,” an exhibition of original artwork currently being held at Hirakata Park in Osaka Prefecture, as well as a conversation with double Ed.
In addition, Arakawa’s top three highlights of “Revenge Scar” were also presented in the form of scenes. In third place is a scene in which Ed and Al meet and communicate with Lin Yao (Watanabe Keisuke), the 12th prince of the Shin Dynasty, who is after the Philosopher’s Stone for its immortality power. The second place goes to the scene where Ed forces Winry to let go of his gun during the confrontation with “Scar,” (Arata Makkenyu) a scarred man who has sworn revenge against the national alchemist. In first place was the scene where Fu (Kakei Toshio), Lin’s bodyguard, calls out to his injured grandson Lan Fan (Kuroshima Yuina), “Don’t you have an arm?”.
“Fullmetal Alchemist: Revenge Scar” will be released nationwide on May 20 . The special program “Fullmetal Alechemist ‘PERFECT GUIDE’” is available on the official “Warner Bros.” YouTube channel.
