The stage play “Fullmetal Alchemist” will be staged in Osaka and Tokyo in March 2023. Additional character visuals have been disclosed, including Alphonse Elric, Roy Mustang, Riza Hawkeye, Alex Louis Armstrong, Maes Hughes, and Jean Havoc.

“Fullmetal Alchemist” is a masterpiece dark fantasy comic by Arakawa Hiromu. It was serialized in the monthly “Shonen Gangan” magazine from 2001 to 2010. Nicknamed “Hagaren,” the series is enormously popular among men and women of all ages for its battle action using alchemy, its epic and detailed story that trespasses eras and nations, and its vividly depicted characters with unique and charming personalities.

The comic series has sold over 80 million copies worldwide, along with numerous cross-media contents including TV anime series, animated films, video games, as well as live-action films. A new smartphone game was also released this summer.
The stage play “Fullmetal Alchemist” is the first stage adaptation of the comic that has been produced, seeking further development to the series.

The play is written and directed by Ishimaru Sachiko, who has become a leading figure in the theater industry in recent years by producing various shows, from musicals to straight plays. Ishimaru is known for her passionate stage directions and training of young actors. The show also brings together active creators and cast members in diverse genres of entertainment.
The Elric brothers will be played by three actors, who have passed the four-month audition process: Isshiki Yohei and Hirono Ryota for the leading role of Edward Elric, and Mashima Shuto for Alphonse Elric.

Additional character visuals, which have just been disclosed, include Alphonse Elric in human form, played by Mashima Shuto, and Roy Mustang, played by Aoki Jin and Wada Takuma.
Others include Riza Hawkeye, played by Tsukui Minami, Alex Louis Armstrong, played by Yoshida Metal, Maes Hughes, played by Okamoto Yuki and Jean Havoc, played by Kimizawa Yuki.

The stage play “Fullmetal Alchemist” will be staged at the Shin Kabukiza Theater in Osaka from March 8 to 12, 2023, and at the Nippon Seinenkan Hall in Tokyo from March 17 to 26, 2023.
