The music team of “ONE PIECE FILM RED”, the anime “One Piece”‘s latest film, has won “Special Award” at the “46th Japan Academy Prize”, which will be held on March 10, 2023, at the Grand Prince Hotel Shin Takanawa in Tokyo.

The Japan Academy Prize is a Japanese film award established for the advancement and development of Japanese film art, technology, and science, and has been held annually since 1978. The 46th Japan Academy Prize is given to films that were released between January 1 and December 31, 2022, and meet the criteria such as number of screenings and duration.

Among all the awards, the “Special Award” corresponds to the “President’s Achievement Award,” which is given to the most outstanding filmmaker out of those who have made significant contributions and achieved outstanding results in the year.

“ONE PIECE FILM RED” is the latest film of “One Piece” that was released on August 6, 2022, where the original author Oda Eiichiro serves as a general producer and Taniguchi Goro (“Code Geass” series) as the director.
Set in the music island Elegia, the story begins with a shocking fact that Uta, who is the most beloved singer in the world, is a “daughter of Shanks”.

Uta, the world-famous singer that is key to this work, is voiced by Nazuka Kaori and Ado (when singing), which became a big topic. Furthermore, the songs in the film are popular such as the theme song “Shin Genesis” by Nakata Yasutaka and others by Mrs. Green Apple, Vaundy, Fake Type, Sawano Hiroyuki, Orisaka Yuta, and Hata Motohiro. The film has already earned 19 billion yen after 157 days from the release.
