A special program of the anime film “Gyokou no Nikuko-chan”, which stars Hanae Natsuki, Shimono Hiro, and planned/produced by Akashiya Sanma, will be broadcast on June 3, 2021. The making video of the post-recordings of Cocomi & Hanae Natsuki, which aren’t even in the special program, will be released.
“Gyokou no Nikuko-chan” is an animation film based on Nishi Kanako’s best-selling novel which received the 152nd Naoki Prize and has over 350,000 copies published. The story depicts the lives and growth of Nikuko-chan and Kikuko, a mother and daughter living by themselves on a boat in the fishing port.
Under director Watanabe Ayumu of “Doraemon: Nobita’s Dinosaur 2006” and “Children of the Sea”, the animation was produced by Studio 4°C of “Tekkonkinkreet”, “Children of the Sea”, and “Poupelle of Chimney Town”. Ootake Shinobu plays Nikuko-chan, Cocomi plays Kikuko, and voice actors Hanae Natsuki and Shimono Hiro also play characters in the film.
The special program to commemorate the release features interviews with Akashiya Sanma and the voice cast members, and the making-of video of the post-recordings.
In addition to Sanma’s passionate talk about the reason why he decided to make a film of “Gyokou no Nikuko-chan” and his thoughts about the work, the special program will show the post-recordings of Ootake Shinobu, Cocomi, Hanae Natsuki, Shimon oHiro, Matsuko Delux, and Yoshioka Riho, with Sanma’s attendance.
Also, the making-of video of the post-recordings of Cocomi & Hanae Natsuki, which aren’t even in the special program, has been released. You can see the two performing with innocence and seriousness in their eyes while maintaining an exquisite distance.
“Gyokou no Nikuko-chan” will be in theaters from June 11.
