From the animated film “Gyokou no Nikuko-chan” (translated; Nikuko-chan at the Fishing Port) planned and produced by Akashiya Sanma, scene photos depicting the casual but lovable daily life of the main character, Nikuko, and her daughter, Kikuko, have been released. In addition, the ED theme song “Taketen” written by GReeeeN will be released on May 26.
“Gyokou no Nikuko-chan” was planned and produced by Akashiya Sanma, who fell in love with Naoki Prize-winning author Nishi Kanako ‘s novel, and is a touching heartfelt comedy about the secrets of a mother and her daughter, Nikuko and Kikuko, who live on a boat in a fishing port.
It was directed by Watanabe Ayumu (Doraemon: Nobita’s Dinosaur 2006, Children of the Sea), and the animation was produced by STUDIO4°C. Otake Shinobu will play the voice of Nikuko-chan and Cocomi as the voice of Kikuko, with other voice actors such as Hanae Natsuki, Shimono Hiro, Yoshioka Riho, and Matsuko Deluxe also appearing.
The scene photos released this time are casual but somehow endearing shots of the daily lives of Nikuko and Kikuko.
In addition to Nikuko eating dumplings with a bursting smile and Kikuko quietly enjoying her favorite book, and the two of them staring intently at the thick, smoking meat, you can also see Nikuko getting surprised by a penguin and falling on her behind, and Kikuko looking healthy and cute as a child.
The main character of the film, Nikuko-chan, has an unforgettable presence with her strong fashion sense and mascot-like appearance. In contrast to her mother, her daughter Kikuko catches the attention of everyone with her big eyes and mature looks that one would not expect from an elementary school student.
The film also features many other characters with strong personalities surrounding the mother and daughter. There is also a scene that seems to be an homage to “My Neighbor Totoro”, and the homage to classic movies and anime works will also be worth watching.
The animated feature film “Gyokou no Nikuko-chan” will open at TOHO Cinemas Hibiya and other venues on June 11.
