Hanae Natsuki’s birthday is on June 26. Hanae Natsuki debuted in 2011, and has won the 9th Voice Acting Awards under the Rookie Male category, the 11th Personality Award, and the 14th Performing Male Actor Award. Hanae has starred in a wide variety of titles in 2021, including “Odd Taxi”, “Gloomy the Naughty Grizzly”, and “Gyoko no Nikuko-chan”. In order to celebrate Hanae’s birthday, once again we have opened a reader survey titled “WhoWhat’s your favorite character voiced by Hanae Natsuki?”. The survey was carried out from June 10 to June 17 and we got a total of 398 answers. The respondents consisted mainly of females, corresponding to about 80% of the answers, while the male side represented the rest 20%. As for age groups, approximately 45% of the answers were from 19-year-olds and younger, and 30% were from readers in their 20s, making up an overall young audience. ■The popular characters were the strong ones! 1st Place Kamado Tanjiro from “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba” ranks 1st for the third year in a row, with a support rate of about 20%. The character was praised by many voters for possessing both kindness and strength as virtues: “I voted foron him because he is a strong character that protects his sister and other people from demons, also being compassionate eve towards opponents. You can see from the dialogues that Hanae has portrayed him in a manner that brings out a certain liveliness inout of the character. I think he did an excellent job in aspects such as strength and kindness which are the main traits of Tanjiro.” “I look up to Tanjiro's strong will and kindness! He cares a lot about his family and comrades. After watching the show I really wished I had a brother or friends like him.” Another reader points outs that the appeal of the character's more lighthearted side “I just fell in love with his spontaneity on comical scenes.” 2nd Place The 2nd place goes to Kaneki Ken from “Tokyo Ghoul” with a support rate of 15%, also ranking in 2nd for the third year in a row. Many comments pointed out the difficulty in performing such a complex dramatic character. “I chose this character because Hanae has done an outstanding job by making the anime stand out as a whole through his performance, for example in the parts in which his character displays a sorrowful type of kindness and anguish at the same time, as well as the cool awakening scenes.” A reader made mention of one unforgettable scene too: “I will never forget the amazing performance behind the emotionally intense torture scene. I got goosebumps watching it.” 3rd Place The 3rd place goes to Riddle Rosehearts from “Disney’s Twisted-Wonderland” with a support rate of 7%, climbing up from last year’s 8th place. The head of Heartslabyul, Riddle Rosehearts was picked by readers for his strict personality: “He rigidly upholds the rules as the dorm leader and his personality fits with Hanae’s voice.” “His voice normally is calm and collected, however in contrast, his voice when angry is also powerful. It is something that only Hanae is capable of doing in my opinion.” One fan opinionates that by performing different aspects of the character is the best way to bring a character to life by relaying different emotions: “Hanae does a wonderful job portraying the young character’s both sides, a competent leader who at the same time holds wounds from a dark past. Hanae knows how to bring to prominence these fascinating characters.” ■Other Comments There were also votes for characters of titles that are still being broadcast in 2021. Arima Kosei from “Your Lie in April”: “The acting of the protagonist who struggles with playing the piano after his mother’s death, is remarkable. It is impossible to watch his and the heroine's journeys without tearing up." Sera Rikka from “TSUKIPRO THE ANIMATION”: “Hanae’s voice is athe perfect match for such a gentle and elegant character. As a fan, I appreciate how Hanae blends gracefully the gap between his high-pitched voice and the Sera Rikka's wild singing style." Ninomiya from “Gyoko no Nikuko-san”: “Hanae's mysterious and muttering voice matches well with the character Ninomiya. You can also see the changes in his speaking manner as he gets closer to the protagonist as the movie progresses.” Odokawa from “Odd Taxi”: “When I first listened, I was surprised by how Hanae managed to do such a low pitched and deep voice for Odokawa, because it sounds completely different from Hanae’s normal speaking voice.” In this 2021 survey, despite the 1st and 2nd places not having changed compared to last year, a wider range of characters have ranked in this time. The fact that many characters from games that haven’t been adapted into anime were chosen, stands out in particular. ■Top 10 Ranking “What’s your favorite character voiced by Hanae Natsuki? 2021 Edition” 1st Place: Kamado Taijiro from “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba” 2nd Place: Kaneki Ken from “Tokyo Ghoul” 3rd Place: Riddle Roserhearts from “Disney’s Twisted-Wonderland” 4th Place: Tomoe Hiyori from “Ensemble Stars!” 5th Place: Kominato Haruichi from “Ace of Diamond” 6th Place: Arima Kosei from “Your Lie in April” 7th Place: Toritsuka Reita from “The Disastrous Life of Saiki K.” 8th Place: Sera Rikka from “TSUKIPRO THE ANIMATION” 9th Place: Nito Senri from “DREAM!ing” 9th Place: Hoshiumi Korai from “Haikyu!!” (Survey Period: June 10 ~ June 17, 2021) ■Top 20 Ranking “What’s your favorite character voiced by Hanae Natsuki? 2021 Edition” 1st Place: Kamado Tanjiro from “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba” 2nd Place: Kaneki Ken from “Tokyo Ghoul” 3rd Place: Riddle Roserhearts from “Disney’s Twisted-Wonderland” 4th Place: Tomoe Hiyori from “Ensemble Stars!” 5th Place: Kominato Haruichi from “Ace of Diamond” 6th Place: Arima Kosei from “Your Lie in April” 7th Place: Toritsuka Reita from “The Disastrous Life of Saiki K.” 8th Place: Sera Rikka from “TSUKIPRO THE ANIMATION” 9th Place: Nito Senri from “DREAM!ing” 9th Place: Hoshiumi Korai from “Haikyu!!” 11th Place: YoRHa No.9 Type S from “TieR:Automata” 12th Place: Enomoto Kotaro from “Kokuhaku Jikko Iinkai Renai” 12th Place: Tademaru Shiki from “Kimono JIhen” 14th Place: Elam from “The Heroic Legend of Arslan” 14th Place: Sakishima Hikari from “Nagi-Asu: A Lull in the Sea” 16th Place: Aldini Takuma from “Food Wars!: Shokugeki no Soma” 17th Place: Ashuhiro Yuta from “B-PROJECT” 17th Place: Kaizuka Inaho from “ALDNOAH.ZERO” 17th Place: Katsuragi Maki from “Stars Align” 17th Place: Higekiri from “Touken Ranbu” 17th Place: Yuna D. Hanae Natsuki, voice actor of Kamado Tanjiro from “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba”, is part of the main cast of the movie “Gyoko no Nikuko-chan” which premiered on Jun. 11, 2021. The movie is based on the original novel written by Nishi Kanako, and was awarded the 152nd Naoki prize holding a sales record of 350,000 copies. Akashiya Sanma was involved as a producer in the the anime movie. The plot follows a journey of growth of Nikuko-chan and Kikuko, a mother and daughter living on a boat in a fishing harbor. The next day after the release was announced, voice actor Hanae Natsuki was also announced as being part the cast, quickly raising awareness to the movie. Hanae voices Kikuko’s classmate, Ninomiya, a young boy who plays an important role in the development of the story. We have interviewed Hanae via email and asked questions about the highlights of the movie and production anecdotes involving Akashiya Sanma. ■ What was some of the advice received from Akashiya Sanma? "He was there for the recording, but..." —How did you feel when you were first proposed the role, given that Akashiya Sanma was involved as a producer? Hanae: When I first got the proposal through my agency I was told that Sanma would be producing it. But I only decided to accept the role after taking a close look at the development papers from STUDIO4°C. I was quite impressed by the retrograde aesthetic of the visuals, such as the decaying fishing harbor town, which evoked a sense of nostalgia, and I also found myself being fond to the work as a whole. —What was your first impression of Akashiya Sanma? Hanae: I grew up watching him on the TV since I was a child, so the impression I have of him is of "being that guy on the screen". He always seems to be enjoying himself when he talks, and that puts me in a happy mood. —The original novel by Nishi Kanko won the 152nd Naoki Prize selling more than 350,000 copies. What's your opinion about the novel after reading it alongside the screenplay script? What did you find interesting about it? Hanae: The dialogues between Nikuko and Kikuko were very funny. And the plot twist is compelling as well. Despite being narrow in terms of themes touched upon, the world building itself felt huge. Also I was looking forward to seeing what kind of way Nikuko was going to turn out on the big screen since her sense of presence in the original work is so powerful; and the movie ended up blowing my expectations. I think it turned out this great due to the visual quality of the animation and the superb performance by Otake (Nikuko’s voice). —What kind of character is Ninomiya, the young boy you voiced? Hanae: Ninomiya isn’t a character who gets much of the spotlight. However, he serves as a guiding light for Kikuko, reminding through his dialogues with her about what the important things really are. —In regards to character building, what were some specific things you were careful about or what were some foundational points that served as a basis for your performance? Hanae: Ninomiya is a mysterious kid. I was given some pointers from the director such as “to speak in a way that almost sounds like he is engaged in a conversation but at the same time isn’t”, and “saying all the things he wants to say one sidedly during the dialogues”; so I decided to focus on that. Because of that I feel that my character has the smallest voice among all the characters that appear in the movie…. (laugh). Also, people normally don’t really pay any special attention to stuff like voice intonation or the way they speak when they're talking to others, let alone an elementary school kid like Ninomiya . So I tried to voice him in a natural manner as much as possible rather than focusing on more technical aspects of performing. —Was there any particular directing orders from Akashiya Sanma in regards to voice acting? Hanae: There was this time when I stuttered during the recordings. Sanma was present during that, and he told me to be careful about it (laughs). —In Jan. 21, 2021 you appeared on his show “Sanma no Manma”. Do you have further appearances scheduled? Hanae: Well I was very nervous during the show, but it was a lot of fun at the same time. I would love very much to make another appearance if another opportunity presents itself in the future! —Anything you want to say to the audience who are about to see the movie? Hanae: It’s a movie made for people of all ages. You can watch it with your family, friends, or lover. And I think it’s the type of movie that changes people. After finishing it you’ll feel a little bit different inside when thinking about the important people in your life. I hope that people will be invigorated after seeing the powerfulness of Nikuko on the theaters. Do look forward to it. (c) 2021 “Gyoko no Nikuko-chan” Production Committee Distributed by Asmik Ace

Voice actor Kaji Yuuki will be playing the role of the "Grim Reaper" in the latest edition of the "Tales of the Unusual" series, "Tales of the Unusual '21 Summer Special Edition" (airing June 26, 2021) on Fuji Television Network. We have received a comment from Kaji-san about this. “Tales of the Unusual" started airing as a regular drama in April 1990. Since then, it has been broadcasted twice a year in the form of special editions and has created a bizarre world of stories by crossing writers and scriptwriters who represent each era with gorgeous actors. The latest series "Tales of the Unusual '21 Summer Special" features four "strange" episodes. Kaji-san will appear in one of them, "Dead in 15 Seconds”. This will be his first video appearance in a Fuji TV drama. Kaji-san plays the role of the "Grim Reaper" in this drama. He appears to pick up Mikami Megumi (played by Kichise Michiko), a pharmacist who has died after being shot in the back, and tells her that she has 15 seconds left to live. Kaji-san wears special makeup to play this role. Watch out for the heated theatrical battle with Kichise-san. Kaji-san also commented on his appearance in the "Tales of the Unusual '21 Summer Special Edition". “Tales of the Unusual 21: Summer Special" will be broadcasted on June 26, 2021 from 9:00 p.m. on Fuji Television Network. Comments from Kaji Yuuki --How did you feel when you were asked to be in this movie? I'm not a fan of so-called "scary stories", but when I was in elementary school, I plucked up the courage and came into contact with a horror/occult film for the very first time. I was shocked by the fact that the stories were not just "scary" but also "strange," and ever since then it has become my favorite series. I feel that this drama has a wide range of appeal, from stories that make you laugh to those that bring you to tears. --Your impression after reading the script. It was very interesting, and I was excited to read the script until the end. This is, as the title says, a "Tale of the Unusual". --About the role of the "Grim Reaper" in this story. I felt that it was a very playful character that would have a variety of images depending on the reader. I also felt that it was a very difficult role to play. --What are your impressions of the role you actually played? I played the role while thinking about the intention of casting myself as a voice actor and hoping that I could create a sense of "discomfort" in a good way with my voice and acting. After all, the very existence of the "Grim Reaper" itself is foreign to me (laughs). I really enjoyed the challenge of playing a role that I had never played before, even in voice acting. --They put on special makeup for the play.... It was my first time to use special makeup, so I was simply happy. Moreover, I didn't know that JIRO-san, a top artist in this field, would do my makeup. I was impressed by his exquisite skill in taking the "cat" element of the original story and making it look somewhat human. It was an invaluable experience for me. --What were your impressions of working with Kichise-san? It was a two-people show from beginning to end. It was a very stimulating time to interact with Kichise-san, who is a very senior actor. I also learned a lot from her because of her wonderful behavior as a theater director. I was honored to be able to perform with her. --Have you yourself had any strange experiences like this, which cannot be explained by modern society? A few years ago, when I was climbing Mt. Fuji. In the middle of the night, weI witnessed several lights moving in a group, which were clearly different from airplanes... that was what my friend who was climbing with me said (laughs). --Please give a message to the viewers. It's a bit scary and mysterious, just like "Tales of the Unusual" should be. I hope that I was able to create a character that will leave a lasting impression on the viewers, so that they will be aware of the existence of the "Grim Reaper" at any moment in their lives. Please look forward to the broadcast! (C) Fuji Television Network, Inc.

On September 15, 2021, an IMAX screening event was held to announce the completion of the movie "Sword Art Online Progressive: Aria of a Starless Night" (to be screened on October 30, 2021). Tomatsu Haruka, who plays Asuna, and Matsuoka Yoshitsugu, who plays Kirito, took the stage, and LiSA, who is in charge of the theme song that was performed for the first time along with the full-length screening, made a surprise video appearance for the audience. ■Tomatsu Haruka and Matsuoka Yoshitsugu revealed their feelings for Asuna and Kirito. Tomatsu, who played Asuna in this work for the first time in a long time, said, "I'm honestly very happy to be able to play Asuna at that time again, and I've been working with the SAO series for about 10 years, so it's like a miracle that I've been able to be involved for so many years. And I've realized once again that this series is loved by so many people," she smiled. Matsuoka, who played Kirito, said, "I put a lot of energy into my performance. I can't say enough about how impressed I was with how the Aincrad arc from back then turned out when it was recreated with today's technology. I’m speechless," he seemed to be full of emotion. He continued, "Some scenes brought me back some memories, and some stories were originally made. So there is the original story, but it is Progressive that ‘no one has ever seen’. Some scenes are connected from the TV series, and what Asuna was doing at that time, which is what you wanted to know, is condensed in this film. There's a lot of Sword Art in there that you don't know!," he praised with a catchphrase. Regarding the "SAO" series that has been running for about 10 years, Tomatsu said, "There are 97 episodes in the SAO series. I've been involved in various SAO series for the past 10 years, and I've continued to act in various contents, so I've never had a break in my career. It is fairly rare during my life as a voice actress, and I feel very fortunate," she revealed and, "It’s like it is my normal life being with Asuna…… I can't imagine my life without her. She lives in my heart like I can't live without you (Asuna)!," she shared her special feelings for the film. Matsuoka also said, "I've spent half of my life as a voice actor with Kirito. I don't have to think about how he was like when (the work as Kirito) comes. I can switch to Kirito," he talked about how big this series is. ■What are the highlights of this work? "There are scenes where you’ll be like, 'You were there…?'" As for the highlights of the film, Tomatsu said, "Scenes and lines from the TV series appear in a different direction, and when you see it from Asuna's point of view, you can understand why things happened the way they did, and enjoy the Aincrad arc from a different perspective. The story starts from Asuna's point of view before she started SAO, so I think it will be easy to relate to." Matsuoka said, "Tomatsu-san has already told us everything, so... (lol). I'll tell you the highlights from a different perspective. There are scenes where you’ll be like, 'You were there…?'" (lol) Let me give you a hint: the Alicization arc," he put our hopes so high that we can’t wait for its release. ■LiSA's theme song! "Asuna wasn't strong from the beginning" At the event, it was announced that LiSA's song "Yuke" would be the theme song, and as a complete surprise to the audience, LiSA appeared in a video for the stage greeting. LiSA said, "The main character of this work is Asuna, and behind the strong and cool figure we've seen so far, Asuna wasn't strong from the beginning. It is a work that touches on the true strength of Asuna. I wrote the song "Yuke" with the hope of delivering a cheering song like the strong and supple Asuna." Looking back on the time when she first got involved in the SAO series, she commented, "The first time I got involved in SAO was in the summer of 2012, when the TV anime "Aincrad" arc was released. Nine years have passed since then, and I'm looking forward to the start of the story that leads up to that. I hope you will enjoy the first story and the theme song "Yuke" that will lead us to SAO, which we have loved together."

The chanting voice of Ban is currently available on the official website. The chants of Seki and Hitomi will also be released as well. In addition, comments from the cast members on their decision to appear in this work and play the characters have also arrived. The TV anime "Burning Kabaddi" will start airing in April 2021 on TV Tokyo and other stations. ＜Below are the comments in full.> Kamio Shinichiro Comment I'm Kamio Shinichiro , the voice of Ban Nobutaka. Ban looks terrifying with his pompadour hairstyle but has a quiet voice. He's an enthusiastic fan of Yoikoshi but has a quiet voice. He's a man with a passionate heart but has a quiet voice. His chant is a must-listen! ...... Kaba......... ka...... di...... ......i.........i.........! Komada Wataru Comment I have had experience of the game of kabaddi before, as one of my PE teachers in high school was a former player. I was excited to see an anime based on it, and Seki Ryuta, the character I played this time, has sumo experience and is a hard worker who values communication with others. He's also the class clown of the team. Please look forward to the broadcast of "Burning Kabaddi"! Murase Ayumi Comment At first glance, I thought the character was a female assistant of the team! But he's actually a boy and will get things done when he's in the mood. I'll do my best to capture his character. Here's my chant! kabaddi kabaddi kabaddi kabaddi kabaddi ....... The 3rd season of the TV anime series "Mr. Osomatsu" has started broadcast on Oct. 12. In the first episode, new sextuplets that are suitable for the Reiwa era had appeared. Comments from the cast members, including Hanae Natsuki, Ishikawa Kaito, Shimazaki Nobunaga, and others, who played the new sextuplets, have arrived. The TV anime series "Mr. Osomatsu" is based on Akatsuka Fujio's famous gag manga "Osomatsu-kun". It is a story about sextuplets who are the main characters becoming sloppy adults called useless neets. As usual, the 1st episode is an unprecedent story that develops from current affairs to harsh black jokes. Among them, the appearance of "new sextuplets" became a hot topic on the SNS. The setting art is the same as the usual sextuplets, but they appear more stylish in the hoodie and tuxedo.. Instead of the old sextuplets, the new characters that fit the Reiwa era that appeared, are voiced by current popular voice actors. Hanae Natsuki as the new Osomatsu, Ishikawa Kaito as the new Karamatsu, Shimazaki Nobunaga as the new Choromatsu, Matsuoka Yoshitsugu as the new Ichimatsu, Uchida Yuma as the new Juushimatsu, and Murase Ayumu as the new Todomatsu. Moreover, comments from the new cast of the sextuplets have arrived. After recording the 1st episode, Hanae said, "I had a mysterious sense of accomplishment ", Uchida added after reading the script, "I ended up appearing in a ridiculous work", and other BTS (behind-the-scene) comments have been received. The 3rd season of the TV anime series "Mr. Osomatsu" is currently being broadcast on TV Tokyo and other channels. New Osomatsu: Hanae Natsuki I was thinking about what role I've got, but when I opened the script, I immediately closed it because I didn't understand a single thing. I went along with the flow during the recording for the 1st episode. There were some ambiguous moments which I didn't really understand New Karamatsu: Ishikawa Kaito Even before I became a voice actor, I loved Nakamura Yuichi's acting and longed do the same thing. Right now, while working as a voice actor with the support and interactions with many people, I have the opportunity to meet with Nakamura-san, but I do not know that my admiration will remain. When I heard about the cast and about the role of new Karamatsu, I thought about being the successor of Karamatsu-san played by Nakamura-san. Together with the Nakamura-san's acting nuance from the personality of Karamatsu, I expanded the image of Yu-chan in myself to the limit and opened the script in a perfect posture. The first line was, "What is this...". The second was "Not good...". It didn't make much sense. All the emotions other than interesting were blown away by the sense of this work. Bye bye. New Choromatsu: Shimazaki Nobunaga As expected, no, it was more than what I had expected. After reading the script of the first episode, I couldn't stop laughing. The casts of the new sextuplets are also wonderful members, and I enjoyed the recording sessions very much. It was an honor for me to be entrusted as the new Choromatsu. New Ichimatsu: Matsuoka Yoshitsugu I played, thinking, "Maybe this is a future of 'Osomatsu-kun'?" Please check out our version of "Mr. Osomatsu" As for the impression of the first episode, I was surprised... It's messed up (laugh) After the recording was over, I felt comfortable and strangely tired (laugh). New Juushimatsu: Uchida Yuma After seeing the previous seasons for reference, I read the script for the first episode... This guy is hopeless. I ended up appearing in a ridiculous work. References from previous seasons are no longer helpful (laugh) What exactly is "Mr. Osomatsu"? I hope you will find the answer in this 3rd season. New Todomatsu: Murase Ayumu I watch it in advance and felt the energy and fun of the work, so I honestly felt the pressure from acting the new sextuplets (laugh). At the same time, I was happy to be honored and entrusted with that role. The recording itself was quite fun, so I hope it will leave an everlasting impression on everyone!
