Mar. 18 is Miki Shin’ichirou-san’s birthday.

Miki Shin’ichirou-san has been active at the forefront of the scene from the 90s to the present. He received the Supporting Male Actor award at the 4th Seiyu Awards and the Tomiyama Kei Award, which is given to those who have spread the voice acting profession, at the 8th Seiyu Awards.

In 2020, he will be playing the main role in “Sayonara, Tyrano”, which will be released in summer 2020. In addition, we at Anime!Anime! were able to conduct an interview with him at the timing of the release of the anime film, “Expelled from Paradise”. We asked him questions about the film and the attractiveness of his character.

To celebrate his birthday, here at Anime!Anime!, we have conducted the same interview as last year, “Who is your favorite character voice by Miki Shin’ichirou-san?”. 374 votes were received during the voting period from Mar. 4 to Mar. 11.
The votes were mainly female with the gender ratio being 20% male to 80% female. The age group was 30% under 19, 30% in their 20s, and 20 % in their 30s.

■The “demon vice-commander”, Hijikata Toshizou, from “Hakuouki” takes the top for two years in a row.
1st place was taken by Hijikata Toshizou from “Hakuouki” with roughly 15% of the votes and stayed at the top from last year.

He was popular for portraying the “demon vice-commander” well and received this comment, “Hijikata-san is usually strict towards both others and himself. I could see his strong will and kindness hiding behind his strictness through Miki-san’s performance.”
Many comments pointed out how moved they were by his performance of acting out the character’s feelings such as, “That scene where he yells in pain resonates with me every time, and brings me to tears…!”

Coming in 2nd was James from “Pokémon” with roughly 14% of the vote and moved up from 4th place.

Comments mentioning “He’s a villain from Team Rocket but somehow I can’t hate him!” stood out. “He’s the enemy but I love how he’s so kind to his friends and puts himself at risk for his colleagues and pokémon”, and “He’s handsome yet careless and cute. Miki-san’s voice suits him so well”, shows how much love the character receives.

3rd place goes to Lockon Stratos from “Mobile Suit Gundam 00” with roughly 10% of the votes and kept his position from last year.
Lockon Stratos is a code name and Miki-san voiced both Dylandy brothers, Neil and Lyle. They received comments such as, “Miki-san left a big impression on me for depicting the difference of the twins’ personalities with only his voice”, and “Neil taught me what it means to live and believe. He’s forever an important character for me.”

■Here are some comments for other characters!
For Roy Mustang from “Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood”, “I love how he’s strong and thoughtful of his subordinates. He also has a cute charm for being a womanizer and being useless in the rain.”
For Kaiki Deishuu from the “Monogatari” series, “His looks and how he talks is pure evil, but somehow he’s so persuasive. Awesome acting skills!”

For Sir Nighteye from “My Hero Academia”, “His motto is laughter and humor. A big fan of All Might, even comparable to Deku! I believe Nighteye and Miki-san himself have stoicism in common.”
There were even votes for the character based on Miki-san himself, Youji from “Weiß Kreuz”, “He sure synced perfectly with the character, being the model of the character himself. His voice really can shake people to their cores and their feelings.”

In the overall ranking, there were also some characters from dubbings such as Sherlock Holmes from “Elementary”.
