Feb. 4 is Tomatsu Haruka’s birthday.

Tomatsu Haruka started her career as voice-actress in the decade after the year 2000. She’s won the 3rd Voice Acting Award for Best Newcomer Voice Actress category, and the 7th Voice Acting Award for the Best Female Support Role category.
In 2019 she acted on the main character roles for animes such as “SWORD ART ONLINE -Alicization- War of Underworld” and “Wasteful Days of High School Girls”. Her wedding announcement also became a hot topic on the media last year.

To celebrate her birthday, at Anime! Anime! we held a reader survey on the audience’s favorite characters played by Tomatsu Haruka, which was also held last year. We got a total of 136 answers from Jan. 23 to 30.
The gender ratio was split almost half-and-half by 53% for men and 47% of women answering the survey. 40% of them were under 19, and about 30% were in their 20s.

The 1st place goes to Asuna from “Sword Art Online” with 30% of the votes. She also got 1st place during last year’s survey.

She’s a popular character amongst not only the male fans but the female as well, having received the following comments: “Not only a beautiful and gentle person, but a great cook as well” and “She’s the type of person I want to be. She’s beautiful, strong and her affection towards Kirito is deep.” Asuna’s voice actress was also in charge of the OP theme “Resolution” in the latest installment, “Sword Art Online: Alicization – War of Underworld”. There were comments that praised her singer skills, such as “Besides her great talent as voice actor, also her skills as singer are impressive.”

The 2nd place goes to Morgiana from “Magi” with 10% of the votes, rising from the 3rd place she was placed last year.

The ethnic group fighting character performance was well praised by fans: “Although a quiet woman, she’s strong and cool”, “There’s a charming factor in her supportive role for Aladdin. I also find her dancing lovely.” She was also praised for her femininity as a character: “Her efforts for being approved by Alibaba is cute.”

The 3rd place goes to Enomoto Natsuki from “Kokuhaku Jikko
Iinkai: Ren’ai Series” with 9% of the votes. Rising from 7th place she was placed last year.

The cheerful and boisterous member of the Art Club received the following comments: “I love the fact that she’s almost like a character that could exist in real life, and this creates a sense of closeness to her.” and “Her straightforwardness and unpretentiously innocent personality is a great match for Tomatsu Haruka’s voice. It’s almost as if the character was based on her image”. Fans could also relate to her attitude towards a loved one: “Even though she is very lively normally, she acts totally different in front of Setoguchi Yu, and that’s funny to watch!”

Ebato Sanae from “Scum’s Wish”: “Her performance was very well done. For example, for being troubled for her feelings towards her best friend, or when she gets emotionally unstable and starts screaming.”

Yatogame Monaka from “Yatogame-chan Kansatsu Nikki”: “Tomatsu Haruka’s performing in her original birthplace dialect is lovely!”

The ranking also includes Candelilla, a character from the tokusatsu tv series “Zyuden Sentai Kyoryuger”, which received the following comments: “I’m impressed by her performance as both actress and voice actress at the same time. Candelilla’s human form was very cute..!”
