Jan. 17 is Ueda Reina-san’s birthday.

Ueda Reina-san made her debut as a voice actress in 2010’s. She won the best newcomer voice actress in the 9th Seiyuu Awards.
In 2019, she voiced the main character for “Wataten!: An Angel Flew Down to Me!” and “Grimms Notes The Animation”. She is also active as an singer as her latest album “Empathy” will be released on Mar. 18, 2020 and her 1st live is decided to be held in Jul. 2020.

Here at Anime!Anime!, to celebrate her birthday, we had conducted a reader survey on “Who is your favorite anime character voiced by Ueda reina-san?” following the survey conducted last year. Within the period of Dec. 26, 2019to Jan. 2, 2020, we had received a total of 116 responses.
The male to female ratio is 75% male and 25% female where the male is the majority. For the age distribution, 30% are of those aged 19 and below while 45% are in their 20’s and was leaning on the younger side.

■There was huge change in the ranking! A character from her latest work took the top!

1st place is Tsuyuri Kanao from “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba” and the support rating was approx. 15%.

Tsuyuri Kanaois a female swordsman of the demon slayer squad, she joined at the same period as the protagonist, Kamado Tanjirou. We have received comments: “Despite being quite and hard to understand mysterious beauty, her combat abilities are really high. She is perfect and cool.” “Although she rarely shows her feelings, she is not cool head and I am amazed that she (Ueda Reina) is able to express such a difficult character line while smiling.”
There was also a lot of comments regarding their expectation toward future development such as “I can sense her mysterious aura. I can’t wait to see the future battles.” The top goes to the character of the popular works that was aired in 2019.

2nd place goes to Grey from “The Case Files of Lord El-Melloi II -Rail Zeppelin Grace note-” and the support rating was approximately 12%.

Regarding the cute yet reliable character of Grey, who is Lord El-Melloi II’s disciple: “She’s sho cute. Her devotion toward her master　is amazing. I think it was Ueda Reina-san’s thoughtful expression of emotion that brings out Gray’s charm at a higher level.” “I was amazed that I was able to understand the emotional changes inside Grey’s hearts from the short lines.” “Ueda Reina fit perfectly with Grey who had a inner secret and her fleeting heart. The gap between her usual acting and the acting during the battle is awesome.”.

3rd place went to Shirogane Lily from “Aikatsu Stars” and she ranked up from 5th place last year.

We have received comments from the readers: “I was moved by her earnest effort to become S4’s top idol.” “I adore her strong heart despite having a frail body.”. Most of the comments received are regarding her tremendous efforts.

Regarding Hoshino Miyako from “Wataten!: An Angel Flew Down to Me!”: “It was interesting and I was attracted by this pitiful undergrad girl who has a strong lovefor primary schoolers.” “It was because Mya-nee perverted actions were the best.”

Regarding Shinjou Akane from “SSSS.GRIDMAN”: “It was because she was able to act both the cute and scary part of the character. I also love the character song “Motto Kimi wo Shiritai” (I want to learn more about you).”

Regarding Sekiya Naru from “Hanayamata”: “This is a commemoration of Ueda Reina’s first main character role. As the character’s personality and Ueda Reina’s emotion at that time fit perfectly, it leave the strongest impression inside of me among the various works.”
Regarding Fuura Suzu from “Comic Girls”: “I can only say that this is the most peculiar yet fascinating performance among all the Kirara anime. It was her acting that gained much popularity for this character.” where even a bit scary character had also received votes.

There was a huge change in the 2020 ver. ranking when compared with last year. The outstanding characters are from the anime that was aired in 2019 such as “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba”, “The Case Files of Lord El-Melloi II -Rail Zeppelin Grace note-“, “Wataten!: An Angel Flew Down to Me!” etc.
