The opening theme for the spring anime "Mission: Yozakura Family" (on air from April 7, 2024) has been chosen to be Ikimonogakari's "Unmei-chan," with a comment from the artist also being received. Additionally, the second PV featuring the theme song has been unveiled. The original work for "Mission: Yozakura Family" is a spy family comedy battle serialized by Gondaira Hitsuji in "Weekly Shonen Jump," with a total of 22 volumes and over 2.5 million copies in circulation. The story follows high school student Asano Taiyo, who lives with the historic spy family, the Yozakura family, depicting the tumultuous daily life surrounded by the unique siblings. Following the recently announced ending theme "fam!" by CHiCO, it has been decided that Ikimonogakari's "Unmei-chan" will be the opening theme. The seventh season of the TV anime “My Hero Academia” will be broadcast from spring 2024. Along with this announcement, the second teaser visual depicting Deku and his friends gazing ahead to the decisive battle, newly drawn by Umakoshi Yoshihiko, the character designer of this work, has also been released.
“My Hero Academia” is a hero action manga series serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump" by Horikoshi Kohei, which has sold more than 85 million copies worldwide. Set in a world where the existence of people with supernatural abilities called “Quirks” is commonplace, the story unfolds as the main character, Midoriya Izuku aka Deku, grows up with his friends at the prestigious hero training school, U.A. High School, to become a "Hero" who protects society and stands up against "Villains," criminals who abuse their “Quirks”. Currently, the serialization of the story is approaching its climax.
The TV anime series based on it is produced by Studio BONES, which has produced numerous masterpieces, and has now aired its sixth season. In the sixth season, the "Paranormal Liberation War Arc" between Deku and other heroes and their enemies; villains, such as Shigaraki Tomura, and the “Dark Hero Arc”, which strongly depicts the bond between Deku, who is wounded and frustrated but determined to fight alone, and his classmates who try to bring him back, unfold. The story, which unfolded on a scale never seen before in the series' history, excited fans and viewers alike.
It has now been decided that the seventh season, which was announced in the final episode of the sixth season (episode 138), will be broadcast in the spring of 2024. Along with this announcement, the second teaser visual for the seventh season, drawn by Umakoshi Yoshihiko, the character designer of the series, and produced by BONES, has also been released.
The seventh season begins with episode 329 from the original comic book volume 34. Through the all-out war against the enemy “Villains” and lonely battles, Deku has renewed his determination to win not alone by himself, but together, with the students and professional heroes of U.A. All for One, a giant evil that targets Deku's "One For All" quirk, and the Villains, including Shigaraki Tomura, who is determined to "destroy everything". The final battle is about to begin.
The second teaser visual depicts Deku, Bakugou Katsuki, Uraraka Ochako, and Todoroki Shoto as they quietly gaze ahead to the decisive battle against the Villains.
In preparation for the broadcast of the seventh season, "My Hero Academia" TV anime series will be available on the video streaming service "TVer" starting from December 17, starting with the memorable first episode "Izuku Midoriya: Origin," all 138 episodes from the first to the sixth seasons will be distributed free of charge for a limited time. The TV anime "Kaiju No. 8" will be broadcast from April 2024 on the TV Tokyo network and will also be streamed in real-time worldwide on X (formerly Twitter). The additional cast members confirmed for the series are Shin Yuuki, Komoto Keisuke, and Takeuchi Shunsuke. Visuals of their respective characters have been released, along with their comments.
"Kaiju No. 8" is a TV anime based on a manga by Matsumoto Naoya, which is currently being serialized in Shueisha's manga app "Shonen Jump+". It has surpassed 12 million copies in domestic distribution, including digital editions, across its 11 published volumes.
The story begins with Hibino Kafka, who works in a specialized monster-cleaning business, being transformed into a powerful “kaiju” by a mysterious small kaiju, just as he starts to pursue his long-held dream of joining the “Japan Defense Force” to combat kaiju that regularly threaten people.
The additional cast members confirmed were Shin Yuuki as Furuhashi Iharu, Komoto Keisuke as Izumo Haruichi, and Takeuchi Shunsuke as Kaguragi Aoi. These characters aim to join the Japan Defense Force alongside Kafka and Leno.
Furuhashi Iharu is the top graduate of the Hachioji Neutralization Technical College, aiming to join the Japan Defense Force. Though he is competitive in nature and speaks rough, he is actually a mood-maker with a compassionate heart. Izumo Haruichi is an elite graduate of Tokyo Neutralization University and is the heir to Izumo Tech, the leading domestic manufacturer of anti-kaiju weapons.
Kaguragi Aoi, a young hope of the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force, aims to join the Defense Force. Though he doesn't show his emotions, he is always calm and values teamwork. With the announcement, visuals for each character were released, and comments from Shin, Komoto, and Takeuchi were also shared.
As "Kaiju No. 8" starts airing in April 2024 on the TV Tokyo network and is streamed globally in real-time on X, anticipation grows for how the characters played by Shin Yuuki, Komoto Keisuke, and Takeuchi Shunsuke will relate to Kafka and the other characters.
