“Black Jack English,” an English language teaching material utilizing an English dubbed DVD of the anime “Black Jack” and the Web, is now available for early reservation on the crowdfunding site “CAMPFIRE”.
“Black Jack English” is a collaboration between Tezuka Productions and Eigoden (operated by Sonata) as part of a project to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the manga “Black Jack” by Tezuka Osamu, which depicts the activities of the unlicensed genius surgeon, Black Jack, in 2023.
Tezuka Productions and Eigoden (operated by Sonata) are currently producing DVD English teaching materials utilizing the English dubbed version of the “Black Jack” animated TV series that was broadcast nationwide from 2004 to 2006, with sales scheduled to begin on December 5, 2022. This will be the first time in the history of the work that DVD English teaching materials with English learning lessons added to the English dubbed version of the “Black Jack” anime will be produced.
The product will consist of a DVD and web-based learning content. The DVD will include “Gift from a Killer Whale,” “The Cholera Epidemic,” and “The Skin Donor” from the English dubbed version of the “Black Jack” anime. Web-based learning content will include a list of words that can be enjoyed without a dictionary, and explanatory videos on English vocabulary, grammar, etc., available only to purchasers and crowdfunding supporters.
The web-based learning content will include the meanings of approximately 1,000 words and phrases used in the English dubbed version of the anime, allowing users to enjoy the English dubbed version of “Black Jack” without a dictionary.
“Black Jack English,” an English language textbook for the English dubbed version of the “Black Jack” anime, will be available for purchase on December 5, 2022 for 3,476 JPY, including shipping fees and tax. Early pre-order for the project on “CAMPFIRE” will run until November 30.
