“GAMERA -Rebirth-,” a new animated series of the great monster “Gamera,” will be distributed worldwide on Netflix as a six-episode anime series. Along with this, an announcement video and a visual of the enemy monster “Gyaos” have been released. Itou Kazunori, who wrote the script for the “Heisei Gamera Trilogy,” also commented in support of the series.

“Gamera” is a large monster that has been loved by monster fans around the world from the Showa to the Heisei period, making its first appearance in the special effects movie “Gamera the Giant Monster” released by Daiei (now KADOKAWA) in 1965.

A friend of justice who protects people from dangers on earth, Gamera has a unique personality with a humorous design modeled after a turtle and the ability to fly. The unique style of Gamera, such as its disk-shaped rotating flight, and its brave appearance in the face of any formidable enemy made it popular, and after “Gamera the Giant Monster,” a total of eight films were produced as the Showa Gamera series up to “Gamera Super Monster”. Since then, the Heisei Gamera Trilogy, “Gamera the Brave,” and other Gamera series have been developed.

“GAMERA -Rebirth-,” which had been announced as a new “Gamera” film, will now be distributed as a six-episode anime series. The announcement video, which allows viewers to see the high quality animation at an early stage, shows the powerful Gamera in action.

The visual of “Gyaos,” an enemy monster that will appear in the film, was also unveiled for the first time.
As the words “GAMERA vs 5 KAIJU” indicate, a total of five enemy monsters will appear in the film, including Gyaos, and we look forward to more information. In addition, Itou Kazunori, who wrote the screenplay for the “Heisei Gamera Trilogy,” has offered his support for the production of “GAMERA -Rebirth-.

“GAMERA -Rebirth-,” a new animated feature film about the giant monster Gamera, will be distributed worldwide on Netflix as a six-episode anime series.
A new announcement was made on the official Twitter around 8:30 p.m. on January 30, so fans should be sure to check it out.

Itou Kazunori: “Heisei Gamera Trilogy” Screenplay

I am very much looking forward to the reboot of Gamera in 2025, which is different from both the Showa and Heisei Gamera.

Why are Gamera’s eyes green?
In Western cultures, “green eyes” are a symbol of something not so good.
I look forward to the day when the full picture of the work, including that part, will be launched.
