August 11 is Aoi Shouta-san’s birthday.
He debuted as a voice actor in 2011 after a career in music. He is currently active in a wide range of fields, including voice acting, singer, and stage actor.
In 2021, he took part in titles such as “Cardfight! Vanguard overDress”, “Joran: The Princess of Snow and Blood”, and “Visual Prison”. He sings the ending theme for “My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom! X” as he did for the 1st season.
To celebrate his birthday, Anime!Anime! conducted the same readers’ survey as last year asking “Who is Your Favorite Character Voiced by Aoi Shouta-san?” There were 476 votes during the survey period from July 26 to August 2.
The voters were mostly female with a gender ratio of 90% female to 10% male, and the age range was on the younger side with 40% under 20 and 35% in their 20s.
■”Uta no Prince-sama” Mikaze Ai topped the list with triple the votes of 2nd place!
1st Place
Mikaze Ai from “Uta no Prince-sama” topped the list with roughly 43% of the votes, keeping him at the top of the list from last year.
“He’s mysterious, cool, and the transparency of him singing fascinates me. I think only Aoi Shouta-san can sing in such a fragile voice,” and “How he takes breathes for this special character is amazing. This is the character that introduced me to Aoi-san’s charm,” are comments that point out how he pulled off a difficult character.
He also received comments from fans fascinated by his songs, “I knew Aoi Shouta-san as a singer, but I was shocked to find out that he was the voice actor of this character, ” and “Many songs have been born since this title started. I’m happy to be able to hear so many songs by Aoi-san.”
2nd Place
Coming in 2nd was Geordo Stuart from “My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom!” with roughly 13%, moving up from 3rd place last year.
The character with a surprising side received comments like, “He’s a good-looking prince on the outside but is malicious on the inside, and I love it,” and “Though he’s a black-hearted prince, he devotes himself to the main character, Catarina. I love the cute interaction between the two.”
There was a reader that pointed out the different tone of his voice, “I love the deeper voice than his usual characters.”
3rd Place
Licht von Glanzreich from “They Royal Tutor” took 3rd place with roughly 5% of the votes, moving him up from last year’s 4th place into the top 3.
The 5th prince of Granzreich Kingdom received comments such as, “I was surprised by how well he matched the image of a playboy character! It was also refreshing to see him playing the character on stage, and I loved how he waved around his long hair!” and “He played the same character in both the anime and the musical, which made it feel like as if Licht was really there.” Since Aoi-san played the character in both the anime and stage play, which is unique to this title, some readers mentioned it as well.
■Here are some comments for other characters.
For Kisaragi Louis from “King of Prism by Pretty Rhythm”, “While being cute, he also has a mysterious charm, and I thought the sense of beauty synchronizes with Aoi-san himself.”
For Aoi Shouta in “Pop Team Epic”, “Not only did he pull off making a live-action appearance in an anime, but I was shocked that he even was given the ability to travel back in time!”
There were also votes for 2021 titles.
For Tsukishiro Makoto from “Joran: The Princess of Snow and Blood”, “His looks, voice, and the swordfight action were all cool,” and “I think the character only works with Aoi-san’s voice.”
For Fish Eye from “Sailor Moon: Eternal”, ” I was looking forward to seeing Aoi-san playing a character I loved since my childhood. I love his cuteness and the suspiciousness as a villain.”
