To commemorate the release of the “Bem: Become Human the Movie” (Road Show from Oc. 2, 2020), supporting comments from voice actor Kobayashi Kiyoshi, who had played the role of Bem in first anime series, and Inoue Kazuhiko, who played Bem in the second anime series, have arrived.

This work is the movie version of the TV anime series “Humanoid Monster Bem” that was broadcast in 2019 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the creation of “Bem”.
Konishi Katsuyuki plays Bem, M.A.O. plays Bela, and Ono Kensho plays Belo.

Kobayashi Kiyoshi, who is known for the role of Jigen Daisuke in the “Lupin III” series, played the role of Bem in the first anime. Inoue Kazuhiko, who is known for his role as Hatake Kakashi in “NARUTO” and Nyanko-sensei in “Natsume’s Book of Friends”, played Bem in the second generation of the anime series.
This time, we received supporting comments from the two “Bems” who talked about states of the audition for each release.

Kobayashi Kiyoshi, first generation “Bem”
Compared to the previous works the atmosphere is completely different and it’s odd. Seems, I’m overwhelmed. It’s like at a dream of a world that is centuries ahead. This is an honest opinion.
It is a magnificent movie. It was beyond my imagination. Please watch it. You can get addicted. It has been evolving for 50 years!

[Impressions on watching the movie]
When I first saw it, I was wondering if everything was completely renewed and how Bem would start.

The further the story went, the more mysteries were revealed, culminating in a magnificent ending. It was like watching a Hollywood movie.

[Thoughts about Bem’s role]
I was a person who grew up watching Kobayashi Kiyoshi’s “Bem”, so I was really excited just to get ano audition, “What? Play Bem?”

(On the audition) I was playing an extremely hard scene and was sure I wouldn’t get the part… On ep. 1 and 2 I pulled out everything I’ve got (laugh)! But over time, I started to play Bem more and more naturally, so I felt lonely by the end and didn’t want it to be over.

[Why Bem is still loved?]
At first glance, he is an ugly youkai, but when you look at him closer, you see how beautiful his heart is, and on the contrary, he makes beautiful people look ugly.

. Rather than saying, “I want him to become a human quickly”, I think it is better for him to stay youkai.

Bem, Bela, and Balo’s feelings are so pure, that this is movie that you may want to watch when you are feeling down.

[Message to Bem’s fans]
“Bem” fans, a great movie is coming. The film starts out so unimaginable that you can’t even begin to imagine what it would be like for you. We would like you to fully enjoy it at the cinema.
