It has been announced that a full-scale statue of Freedom Gundam from TV anime series “Mobile Suit Gundam SEED” will be installed in front of LaLaport Shanghai Jinqiao in Shanghai, China in 2021.
This will be the first overseas installation of the full-scale Gundam statue, which previously has been installed in Tokyo Shiokaze Park in 2009 and in Odaiba, Tokyo in 2017.

It was announced by Asanuma Makoto, the CEO of Sunrise, and Ogata Naohiro, an executive producer, who appeared in the recorded video at the “Gundam G-meeting 2020” presentation on Gundam's expansion in China that was live-distributed on Jul. 11, 2020 on the Chinese video distribution service “BILIBILI”.

The “full-size Freedom Gundam statue” is scheduled to start exhibiting in 2021, along with the opening of Mitsui Fudosan Group's first commercial facility “Mitsui Shopping Park LaLaport Shanghai Jinqiao” in Shanghai, China.
Freedom Gundam has a radical design that was shown in TV anime series “Mobile Suit Gundam SEED” that had been broadcast in 2002, and it is appeared to become very popular among overseas Gundam fans.

Sunrise and Sotsu, which already have experience in the realistically installing the powerful Freedom Gundam, after “The real life Unicorn Gundam Statue in Odaiba, Tokyo, 'GUNDAM FACTORY YOKOHAMA' (moving full-scale Gundam exhibition facility), which is scheduled to be open in Yokohama/Yamashita Port in 2020, will be moving forward to the first overseas full-scale Gundam statue project to be realized.
