From the live-action “Yowamushi Pedal”, a teaser trailer and a visual featuring Nagase Ren (a member of King & Prince) as the protagonist “Onoda Sakamichi” with his black hair covering the eyebrows have been revealed. In addition, comments have been received from Yamashita Daiki, Sakamichi’s voice actor in the anime version, who narrates the film’s title in the teaser.

The teaser visual shows for the first time Nagase Ren as the protagonist “Onoda Sakamichi” with his characteristic round frame glasses and black hair covering the eyebrows, while he seems to ride away from somewhere.
According to Nagase, he got a fringe haircut for the first time since his admission to Johnny & Associates talent agency at the age of 15, 6 years ago.
Besides the high school entrance ceremony, the initial scene of the movie shows the protagonist riding his favorite mamachari (lit. “mom’s bike”, Japan’s ubiquitous city bicycles) on a hill while surrounded by a blue sky and a row of cherry trees, which make you feel the arrival of spring.

The teaser trailer, which was revealed simultaneously, starts with the narration of Nagase. His words, “I was alone, but now that I have found my friends and my favorite bicycle, I am not anymore”, reflect on the fact that he was alone before, but now that Sakamichi has met his irreplaceable friends through the bicycle racing, he feels like he’s growing and has found his own place.

Furthermore, the teaser trailer shows for the first time Sakamichi’s rival and friend Imaizumi Shunsuke voiced by Itou Kentarou, and the manager of the Sohoku High Bicycle Club, Kanzaki Miki voiced by Hashimoto Kanna.
Also, the voice cast Yamashita Daiki who had been voicing Onoda Sakamichi since the anime version released in 2013, narrates the film’s title in the teaser under a collaboration between the anime and the movie.

The movie “Yowamushi Pedal” will be released nationwide on Aug. 14, 2020, while the teaser trailer will be screened from Mar. 20. In addition, leaflets are scheduled to be distributed in all national theaters from the end of March.

“I saw the teaser trailer and was very happy to know that it tells the manga’s story carefully from its first volume. Still, there are many things that I am curious about, such as, Will ‘Koi no Hime Hime Pettanko’ be sung? and How Naruko-kun’s red hair and Kansai dialect will be treated? I can’t wait to see more information revealed in the future. I was also really happy to be called for the narration of the film’s title. I would like to use this as an opportunity for a collaboration between the anime and the film to make ‘Yowamushi Pedal’ even more exciting!!”
