Mar. 11 is Touyama Nao’s birthday.

Touyama Nao made her debut as a voice actress in 2010’s. She won 2 awards in the 13th Seiyu Awards, as the Best Supporting Actress Award and the new Game Award. She has played the main characters in multiples works between 2019 and 2020, including “Birthday Wonderland”, “How Heavy Are the Dumbbells You Lift?”, and “Kabuki-cho Sherlock”.

She is also active as a singer. She released her 4th single on Feb.5 called “Aruite Ikou!”. Also, her official club “Niji no Wakka” (Rainbow Ring) received the Golden Merit Award from Japan Red Cross which became a hot topic last year.

Here at Anime!Anime!, to celebrate Touyama Nao’s birthday, we conducted a readers’ survey asking, “Who is your favorite character played by Touyama Nao?” following the survey last year. We conducted the survey from Feb. 23 to Mar. 1, and received answers from 182 people.
Male readers made up the majority with approximately 70%, while female readers made up approximately 30%. The young readers made up the majority of the age group; the readers under 19 made up approximately 30%, while 20’s made up about 40% of the overall vote.

The 1st place is Yuigahama Yui from “My Youth Romantic Comedy is Wrong, As I Expected”. The support rating was approximately 15%.

Touyama Nao plays a friendly high school girl, and the comments related to it said, “Touyama-san’s voice fully expresses Yui’s characteristic as a flashy young girl”, and “Touyama-san’s cute and energetic voice matches well with Yui, who is always optimisitc, cute and caring”.
Yui was also popular for being a girl who is hiding her caring personality behind her flashiness, and the comment mentioning that said, “I was impressed by her acting skill because I know that this anime needs to express true feeling that are hidden behind every line throughout the anime”.
This character from the anime series which will release its 3rd season from Apr. ranked in the 1st place for 2 consecutive years.

The 2nd place was Kujou Karen from “Kin-iro Mosaic”. The support rating was approximately 10%, and ranked higher comparing to the previous year, which she ranked in the 4th place.

Kujou Karen is unique for her blond hair and the way she lives in her own pace. We received several comments praising Touyama Nao’s English spoken during the anime, and the comments said, “I still believe that the quick English spoken scene was completed because it was spoken by Touyama-san”, and “Karen’s fast English was impressive and left a strong impression inside of me”. Other comment said, “Karen’s optimistic and mischievous personality and English matched perfectly with Touyama Nao-san”.

Kirisaki Chitoge from “Nisekoi”, Shima Rin from “Laid-Back Camp”, Koga Tomoe from “Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai”, and Nakagawa Kanon from “The World God Only Knows” tied in the 3rd place with the same amount of votes.
The comment to Kirisaki Chitoge said, “I think she is cute when she secretly works hard while acting cold toward others”, while the comment toward Shima Rin said, “I love her when she shows a smile and when she is teased, although she is usually a cool girl”.

The comments for Koga Tomoe said, “Her Hakata dialect was impressive” and “She looked cute when she said, ‘Don’t call me cute'”. The comment to Nakagawa Kanon said, “‘Happy Crescent’, the song used for the ending in the episode 7 still repeats in my head today”.

To Kasaki Nozomi from “Liz and the Blue Bird”: “She grew apart although she didn’t mean to…I love her delicate acting.”

To Yune from “Croisée in a Foreign Labyrinth”: “I feel moved to see Yune striving hard in the foreign land of Paris as it matches with Touyama-san during her debut as a voice actress. I was impressed when I listened to the main theme song “Koko Kara Hajimaru Monogatari” at the concert last year.”

To Goma-chan from “Shonen Ashibe Go! Go! Goma-chan”: “I feel her voice matched with Goma-chan, who has relaxed personality, and every voice was cute.”
There were vote to the characters who are not humans.
