June 11 is Tsuda Kenjiro’s birthday.

Tsuda Kenjiro made his debut in the 1990s. He won the Best Actor Award at the 15th Voice Actor Awards, and in 2021 he has played roles in a variety of films, including “The Way of the Househusband”, “To Your Eternity”, “Dosukoi Sushi Sumo”, and dubbed the movie “Godzilla vs. Kong”.

To wish Tsuda Kenjiro a happy birthday, we conducted a reader survey titled “Who is your favorite character Tsuda Kenjiro has played? We received responses from 400 people during the survey period from May 26 to June 7.
The ratio of men to women was about 20% male and 80% female, with women being the majority. About 35% of the participants were under 19 years old, and about 30% were in their 20s, so mainly young people.

■A new character takes the top spot! Big changes in the 2nd place and below
1st place
In 1st place was Nanami Kento from “Jujutsu Kaisen”. With a support rate of about 21%, the new character from the 2020 broadcast took the top spot.

The former salaryman sorcerer, Nanami Kento, received the following comments: “Tsuda-san is the only voice that fits the impression of Nanami-san as an adult who leads them in the right direction!” and “He is a man of common sense, and you can feel the kindness in Tsuda-san’s warm bass voice. ”
He is also popular for his sympathetic lines: “Tsuda-san’s acting increases the impact when he complains, and I love his line, ‘Labor is a bitch.’

2nd place
In 2nd place is Ogata Hyakunosuke from “Golden Kamuy” with an approval rating of about 10%, up from 7th place last year.

Ogata-san is a sniper with a mysterious atmosphere. “He’s a special kind of person who you can’t tell what he’s thinking, and you can really feel the eeriness when he talks in a whisper. Especially in the serious scenes, his voice is so terrifying that I get goosebumps every time I hear it,” and “Tsuda-san’s acting amplifies the unfathomable nature of the character and makes him even more attractive,” and “I was able to enjoy his performance, which is brutal but also human, and I don’t know what he’s thinking. I was able to enjoy the play.”

3rd place
3rd place went to Chikage Kazauma of “Hakuoki,” with an approval rating of about 9%, down one place from last year.

Chikage Kazauma is the head of the demons that stand in the way of the Shinsengumi. “He is moody and self-confident, but he is righteous and has a strong sense of pride in himself as a demon.” and “He looks like a tyrant, but he is also strict with himself and is actually a good caretaker. His charm comes from Tsuda-san’s performance.”

“Tsuda-san’s low-toned, slow-talking demon, Kazama, is an enemy of the Shinsengumi, but he is somehow hard to hate. Every year on Setsubun, I look forward to Tsuda-san’s tweets as Kazama,” said one commenter, referring to Twitter.

For Nicolas Brown of “GANGSTA.” They said, “I was reminded of the greatness of actors when I heard that Tsuda-san learned how to play a character who is deaf by interviewing the Tokyo Federation of the Deaf.”

For Castiel from “Supernatural”, “I love the way he goes from his initial lack of emotion to becoming more human and showing more emotion.”
There was also votes for titles with movie versions currently in theaters. For Kirin from ” Revue Starlight” they said, “It’s interesting to hear Tsuda’s voice on an unexpected character. The line “I understand” makes me want to use it.”

In the 2021 Edition of the survey, characters from a wide range of titles including TV anime and foreign dramas were also ranked. In particular, titles that have been newly broadcasted in 2020 and 2019 stand out. It will be interesting to see how the rankings change next year.
