From the International Animation Festival “Tokyo Anime Award Festival 2020 (TAAF2020)” (scheduled to be held from Mar. 13 to 16, 2020), the competition winners (works and individuals) of all categories including the “Anime of the Year” have been announced.
“Weathering with You” is the winner in the Film Category, and “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba” is the winner in the Television Category, while “Uta no Prince Sama Maji Love Kingdom The Movie” is honored to receive the Anime Fan Award.

The “Anime of the Year” awards the best works and individuals chosen among the locally screened and broadcast works every year. It is divided into two sections; those elected by professionals in the anime industry, and those elected by the fans.

In “TAAF2020”, among the various winners, “Weathering with You” has been selected for the Film Category, while “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba” is the winner in the Television Category.

Regarding the individual awards; the Best Screenplay/Original Story goes to Gotouge Koyoharu from “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba”, the Best Director goes to Shinkai Makoto from “Weathering with You”, the Best Animator goes to Matsushima Akira from “Tales of Zestiria the X”, the Best Art Director goes to Watanabe Mikiko from “Violet Evergarden”, and the Best Music goes to Kajiura Yuki from “Fate/Stay Night: Heaven’s Feel”.

In addition, the Anime Fan Award goes to “Uta no Prince‑sama: Maji Love Kingdom” with a votes casted by fans equal to 551,491, becoming the “2019 Most Loved Work”.

During the “TAAF2020”, to celebrate the upcoming 15th anniversary since the foundation of the Fuji TV late night anime program “Noitamina” on Apr. 2005, two special programs are scheduled to be held.

“Noitamina 15th Anniversary Program ∼Tachiage no Omoi∼” will be screen episode 1 of “Honey & Clover”, “Paradise Kiss”, and “Ayakashi” that was broadcast on Noitamina in 2005 (foundation year), along with a special talk show.

In “Noitamina 15th Anniversary Program ∼Anata ga Erabu Omoide no 3 Sakuhin∼”, after screening episode 1 of three works chosen by fans’ voting from three different broadcast periods (2005-2009, 2010-2014, and 2015-2019), a talk show featuring the staff members involved in the productions will be held.

“TAAF2020” is scheduled to be held in Ikebukuro, Tokyo at Ikebukuro Cinema Rosa, and other from Mar. 13 to 16, 2020. Further details will be released on the official website.
