Hanyu Yuzuru and CLAMP’s Dream Collaboration Picture Book “GIFT” Announced! Check Out the Key Visual
Professional skater Hanyu Yuzuru, whose first solo ice show “GIFT” has just closed as a great success, will release a collaboration picture book “GIFT.” The project invites CLAMP, a creators group known for "Card Captor Sakura" and more, to visualize the story written by Hanyu. CLAMP is a creators group consisting of four women; Igarashi Satsuki, Ookawa Nanase, Nekoi Tsubaki, and Mokona, who made their debut in 1989 with "Seiden - RG VEDA-" in the third issue of "South." Their popularity is not limited in Japan but has expanded overseas, with their works published in over 20 countries. Their representative works include "Tokyo BABYLON," "X," "Magic Knight Rayearth," "Tsubasa-RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE-," and "xxxHOLiC." Their latest work, "Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card Arc," which is a sequel to "Cardcaptor Sakura," is currrently serialized in "Nakayoshi." The dream collaboration began when Hanyu, who is currently active as a professional skater, asked CLAMP to illustrate his story. Both respect each other as artists making a huge impact on the world. “GIFT," which Hanyu created the story himself, tells about his life and reveals his new talent on the horizon apart from skating. CLAMP offered illustrations to make it a picture book. The picture book "GIFT," with the story by Hanyu Yuzuru and illustrations by CLAMP, will be released on September 1, 2023, for 3,300 yen, including tax. The first limited edition will come with two postcards as a purchase novelty. New Plastic Models of the Rune Gods from CLAMP’s Magic Knight Rayearth!
The MODEROID line is back with another plastic model assembly kit; this time featuring the three Rune Gods from the “Magic Knight Rayearth” series, “Rayearth, the Spirit of Fire”, “Ceres, the Spirit of Water”, and “Windom, the Spirit of Air”. Available for pre-order at Good Smile Online Shop. The product is the first plastic model kit to feature the three Rune Gods (Mashin) Rayearth, Ceres, and Windom, deities that fight alongside the protagonists from the TV Anime “Magic Knight Rayearth”, broadcast in the 90s. The models are capable of a wide range of movements, making it possible to enact the dynamic action scenes from the anime. Each part is painted separately, and some decorations are made from translucent parts. Simply by assembling the kits, the figures will look the same as in the series. “MODEROID Rayearth, the Spirit of Fire” is the legendary Rune God of “fire”, “passion”, and “the future”. Live-action Movie ‘xxxHOLiC’ Cast Information: Riho Yoshioka as Jorogumo & Yuto Isomura for a movie Original Character
The upcoming live-action movie ‘xxxHOLiC’, which will be released on April 29th, announced new cast members. Riho Yoshioka will play a key character Jorogumo, a bewitching evil woman who attacks Waranuki played by Ryunosuke Kamiki. Yuto Isomura will play Akagumo, a subordinate of Jorogumo who is infatuated with her. The movie ‘xxxHOLiC’ is a dark fantasy based on the manga ‘xxxHOLiC’, which has sold over 14 million copies. The author is CLAMP, a group of creators known for paranormal works with aesthetic visuals. The story revolves around Kimihiro Watanuki (played by Ryunosuke Kamiki), a high school student who leads a lonely life due to his ability to see Ayakashi, beings that possess darkness in people’s minds. One day, Watanuki finds a “Mise (store)” that makes any wish come true in exchange for consideration. By meeting the owner Yuko Ichihara (played by Kou Shibasaki), Watanuki strays into his mysterious fate. Jorogumo, who was announced to be played by Riho Yoshioka, is a bewitching evil woman who attacks Watanuki by controlling the “Ayakashi”. ‘Jorogumo is a bewitching, sexy, and evil woman who is a key character of this movie. It was really hard for me to act sexy, and I learned a lot by working out over and over.’, said Yoshioka. Akagumo, played by Yuto Isomura, is an original character for the movie, and Joro Spider's subordinate who worships her. ‘Akagumo plays into Joro Spider’s hands and gets turned on by her seductiveness. He was a difficult character to play, but also attractive.’, said Isomura. This is the first time for both Yoshioka and Isomura to join “the Ninagawa Family”. Yoshioka comments delightfully, ‘I was surprised when I got this offer because I grew up reading ‘Cardcaptor Sakura’. It is such an honor to play a role in one of CLAMP’s works. I was excited to be in the beautiful world of “xxxHOLiC” with Ms.Ninagawa’. Isomura also comments, ‘I have always wanted to work with Ms.Ninagawa. Akagumo is a new character, so I was looking forward to playing as well as seeing the new world view for the movie’.
