The 1st to 24th episodes of "Legend of the Galactic Heroes: Die Neue These", the anime which has Tanaka Yoshiki's famous work as the original manga, will be aired on NHK E-Tele from Apr. 6, 2020. Prior to the broadcast, the new visual which separately depicts the Galactic Empire and the Free Planets Alliance, and two promotional videos each focusing on Reinhard and Yang have been also released.
The original novel of "Legend of the Galactic Heroes: Die Neue These" is originally a science fiction novel by the author Tanaka Yoshiki (known for several popular novels), which has exceeded a total of 15 million copies. The series has a massive number of episodes since 1988; the main story has 110 episodes, the side story has 52 episodes, and there are 3 featured episodes.
In Apr. 2018, the series became the new anime called, "Legend of the Galactic Heroes: Die Neue These Kaiko" (total of 12 episodes), which Production I.G depicted the marine battles with the latest technology, creating a new understanding to the series. Its 2nd season "Seiran" (13th to 24th episodes) was aired in the movie theaters in 2019.
In the distant future where humans moved out of the galaxy, the people were divided into 2 nations called the Galactic Empire and the Free Planets Alliance, and these two nations had a totally different type of government. The struggle between 2 nation continued for over 150 years in the unlimited galaxy.
Two nations which continue to fight. In the Galactic Empire, there is corruption by the nobles of the marriage of state, while in the Free Planets Alliance the mob rules, which is the obstacle to the democracy. The history experiences the change at the end of 8th space era by the two geniuses; Reinhard von Lohengramm also known as "Unsinkable Genius" and Yang Wen-li also known as "Unbeatable Magician".
The broadcast of 1st to 24th episodes was decided on NHK E-Tele.
In addition to it, the new visual by the character designer Kikuchi Youko was released. There are both the Galactic Empire ver. which depicts Reinhard and Kircheis, and the Free Planets Alliance ver. which depicts only Yang .
