Ishida Akira, who plays Katsura Kotarou in the anime “Gintama,” has been confirmed as an additional cast member for the event “Gintama Ato no Matsuri 2023 (tentative),” a culmination event of the “Gintama” anime series to be held on March 19, 2023, at Ryogoku Kokugikan.
“Gintama” is a TV anime and movie series based on the manga by Sorachi Hideaki, which was serialized in “Weekly Shonen Jump” and has sold more than 55 million copies in total. Set in Edo, a city where values have suddenly changed due to the arrival of Amanto (aliens), it offers readers entertainment filled with side-splitting humor, spectacular action bonds and friendships.
The series was adapted into a TV anime in 2006 and has been broadcast for 13 years since then, reaching its final episode in October 2018 with episode 367. As for the film adaptation, “Gintama: A New Retelling Benizakura Arc” was released in 2010, “Gintama: The Movie: The Final Chapter: Be Forever Yorozuya” was released in 2013, and “Gintama: The Very Final.” was released in 2021.
The plot of the film of 2013 was written by the original author Sorachi Hideaki, and the final film of 2021 depicted the last episode of the manga.
This time, “Gintama Ato no Matsuri 2023 (tentative),” which will be held at Ryogoku Kokugikan on March 19, 2023, announced that Ishida Akira, who plays Katsura Kotarou, will appear on stage. It also disclosed that exclusive live streaming of the event will be available on “ABEMA PPV ONLINE LIVE.”
Tickets for the live streaming have been on sale since noon on February 18. Those who purchase a ticket by 11:59 P.M. on March 18 will receive a digital bonus with a newly-drawn illustration of Gintoki and Hijikata as an early purchaser’s bonus, regardless of the ticket type.
In addition, all ticket purchasers will receive a digital bonus featuring an original illustration of Gintoki, Shinpachi, and Kagura.
“Gintama Ato no Matsuri 2023 (tentative)” will also be screened at movie theaters nationwide for live viewing.
