On March 11, 2022, 11 years after the Great East Japan Earthquake, the animated movie “Tongari Atama no Gonta: Futatsu no Namae wo Ikita Fukushima Hisai Inu no Monogatari ” has been announced to be released in theaters on Shibuya and Fukushima. In addition to Ishikawa Yui who played the main protagonist, actors and voice actors from Fukushima Prefecture such as Saito Satoru and Kamio Yu have appeared as main cast members.
The Great East Japan Earthquake occurred at 02:46 P.M. on March 11, 2011. Immediately after the nuclear accident, an evacuation order was issued in a tense situation, and many animals were left behind in the city abanded by people.
This work, entitled “Tongari Atama no Gonta: Futatsu no Namae wo Ikita Fukushima Hisai Inu no Monogatari”, is about dog Gonta, raised and born in Namie Town in Fukushima, who was separated from his owners. The story is focused on Gonta, who tries hard to survive, its family’s owners, who were forced to leave it behind, and volunteers who rescue pets.
The director and screenwriter is Nishizawa Akio, who is known for his feature-length animated movies, such as “Nitaboh: Tsugaru shamisen shiso gaibun”, “Folktales from Japan” and “Symphony in August”, which were highly praised at film festivals around the world.
And the cast includes Ishikawa Yui, knowo for “Attack on Titan”, “Violet Evergarden”, “Aikatsu! and other series, Okiayu Ryotaro and many actors from Fukushima Prefecture such as Saito Satoru and Kamio Yu also appeared, creating a realistic sense of emergency.
“Tongari Atama no Gonta: Futatsu no Namae wo Ikita Fukushima Hisai Inu no Monogatari” has been released in theaters at Human Trust Cinema Shibuya Forum Fukushima from June 3, 2022.
