“Saint Seiya” by Kurumada Masami, will be getting a Hollywood live-action film titled “Knights of the Zodiac”. Shooting is already done, and Arata Mackenyu will play the leading role.
“Saint Seiya” was first serialized in 1985, selling over 35 million copies total. Starting from 1986 the franchise spanned into several anime series and films, eventually becoming a worldwide hit.
In “Knights of the Zodiac”, the protagonist, Seiya, is an orphan who while searching for his long-lost sister separated from him during childhood, is forced to face his destiny after meeting the girl with godlike powers, Saori.
Through the use of the power of cosmo, and the ancient Greek armor, pegasus cloth, an epic-sized action will unfold on the big screen.
The Hollywood live-action “Knights of the Zodiac”, produced by Toei Animation, will feature Arata Mackenyu starring as Seiya joined by the cast Madison Iseman, Nick Stahl, Diego Tinoco, Mark Dacascos, Nick Stahl, Famke Janssen, and Sean Bean.
The movie will be directed by Tomasz Baginski, known for his work on “Witcher”, and “Into the Night”, with Josh Campbell & Matt Stuecken responsible for the screenplay.
Additionally, in charge of stunt and action coordination, Andy Cheng has been handled the challenge of blending both Japanese anime and Hollywood action styles.
The filming took place in Hungary and Croatia. Toei Animation and Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions announced that the shooting is already concluded.
Toei will be responsible for distribution in Japan, while Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions will distribute the film everywhere else, except for China and Middle East countries.
