The broadcast date of “Kiyo in Kyoto: From the Maiko House” on NHK E will be on October 2, 2021. The new key visual and the artist to perform the opening theme have also been revealed.

“Kiyo in Kyoto: From the Maiko House” is based on the same-name comic by Koyama Aiko.
Two girls Kiyo and Sumire left Aomori to aim to become a Maiko in Kyoto, but Kiyo is hired as the new cook of the Maiko house for an unexpected opportunity.
Through delicious meals, the story warmly depicts the everyday life of Kiyo, who cooks meals for Maiko in a red-light district, Sumire, who earns praise as the “one in a hundred years” promising Maiko, and other Maikos who live together with them.

The anime version has been broadcast on “NHK World JAPAN”, a Japanese broadcast service for overseas, since February 2021, and the cast members include Hanazawa Kana as Kiyo, M・A・O as Sumire, Takayama Minami, Matsuda Satsumi, Katakai Kaoru, and Koyama Rikiya.

The opening animation has been completely renewed for the broadcast on NHK E. The opening theme song will be performed by Tsuji Ayano, a singer-songwriter from Kyoto, who is known for “Kaze ni Naru” as the theme song of “The Cat Returns” produced by Studio Ghibli.

“Kiyo in Kyoto: From the Maiko House” will be broadcast on NHK E from 9:20 AM on October 2.
