The project “Star Wars: Visions”, in which a Japanese anime studio creates a new “Star Wars” work, was announced at the end of 2020 and gained a lot of attention. This time, seven animation studios participating in the project and special videos have been revealed.

It was claimed that the creator of “Star Wars”, George Lucas, was greatly inspired by Japanese myths and Kurosawa Akira’s films, and that influence can be noticed in all the works up until now. The theme, story, and characters are all inherited from the connection with Japanese culture.
“Star Wars: Visions” is a project in which “Star Wars” returns to Japan, which is said to be the “roots of creation.”

It has been receiving a lot of attention since its announcement at the end of 2020, but at the American anime event “Anime Expo Lite 2021”, Lucasfilm’s Jackie Lopez (Executive Producer), James War (Executive Producer), and Josh Rimes (Executive Producer) and others have appeared, and, finally, the participating studios and distribution information have been revealed.

The list of Japanese anime studios participating in “Star Wars: Visions” includes Kamikaze Doga, Kinema Citrus, Science SARU, Geno Studio, Studio Colorido, Trigger, and Production I.G.
The original short animation movie collections of all nine works by these seven companies will be exclusively distributed from September 22, 2021 on the video distribution service “Disney Plus”.
