Japan has many anime titles broadcast every cour, and this line-up is supported by abundant manga titles.

In the first half of 2021, various manga, such as “Horimiya”, “Don’t Toy with Me, Miss Nagatoro”, and “To Your Eternity”, received anime adaptations, and many titles scheduled for broadcast in the future are also based on manga.

We at Anime!Anime! conducted a readers’ survey asking, “Which Manga Do You Want to See an Anime Adaptation of? (First Half of 2021)”. 295 votes were received during the survey period from June 4 to June 13.
There were more female voters with a gender ratio of 30% male to 70% female, and the age range was on the younger side with 45% under 20 and 25% in their 20s.

Here are the results for concluded titles.

■A popular spin-off topped the list!
1st Place
Topping the list was “Detective Conan: Police Academy Arc – Wild Police Story” with roughly 7% of the votes, keeping its position from the last survey.

This worked is a spin-off that depicts the police academy days of Furuya Rei a.k.a. Amuro Tooru and other characters from the main series. “It shows us Furuya-san’s days at the police academy, and it’s amazing how the characters work together to solve crimes while still being students!”, and “The unknown story of the police academy becomes revealed. It’s quite sad that many of the characters have passed away in the main series, so I want to cherish every single episode!” are comments that show how fans are fascinated by the depiction of the characters when they were young.

2nd Place
Coming in 2nd was “Tenshi to Akuto!!”, which also kept its position from the last survey with roughly 4% of the votes.

The main character of this story is a high school student who wants to become a voice actor. It was popular for being closely related to anime and received comments such as, “Even after the series ended, the lively characters never fade away. I’d love to hear the performance of the voice actors from this story!”, and “It’s fascinating to see the boy growing through the profession of voice acting. The fictional anime in this manga all look interesting.”

3rd Place
“Oresama Teacher” and “Psycho-Pass: Inspector Shinya Kogami” tied for 3rd place.

“Oresama Teacher” is a rom-com manga with gags by Tsubaki Izumi-sensei, the author of “Monthly Girls’ Nozaki-kun”. It received comments like, “Now that the series that lasted over 10 years has finished, I’d like to see an anime adaptation created in one go.”

“Psycho-Pass: Inspector Shinya Kogami” received comments such as, “A spin-off of a TV anime series. You can enjoy rich content connected to the story of the main anime series,” and “I want to see young Kougami-san and Waku-san in action!”

■Here are some comments for other characters!
For “Bimyou ni Yasashii Ijimekko”, “It was a heartwarming, gentle story about a clumsy delinquent who isn’t honest about his feelings, so I’d love to see it in anime!”
For “Homura-sensei wa Tabun Motenai”, “I like Homura-sensei’s laid-back personality, and Hasumi-san, the high school girl who is in love with him, is so cute.”

For “Magical Girl Apocalypse”, “I’m curious to see how the magical girls with big personalities and the layers of desperation and tension will be portrayed in an anime.”

In the Concluded Tiles Edition, many spin-offs of popular titles made the list. Also, for titles that have already been animated, some fans said, “Now that the story has concluded, I’d like to see an anime of the whole series.”
