The latest Studio Ghibli work “The movie Earwig and the Witch” will be released on 27th August 2021 and Hayao Miyazaki’s long interview has arrived. The movie is based on Diana Wynne Jones’s children's book. She is a British author who wrote “Howl's Moving Castle”, directed by Hayao Miyazaki. She is also called ‘the queen of fantasy’. The movie was planned by Hayao Miyazaki, directed by Goro Miyazaki, and produced as Studio Ghibli’s first 3DCG animated feature. It was broadcast on NHK General TV on 30th December 2020. A new scene was added this time and the movie will be released. Along with this, Hayao Miyazaki’s interview after the completion of the movie was released. He explains the reason why he suggested the children’s book, “Earwig and the Witch” and why he prompted Goro Miyazaki as a director. He also talks about how Earwig attracts people as a character and the memories with Diana Wynne Jones, the author. He thought that “It must have been really hard to make that movie as I praised them with open arms”. Very straightforward and we could see Earwig’s strong feeling like I never give up! and I’m not leaving! I’m glad that they were ready to make a movie and nothing went wrong, especially when CG was used. I was wondering how they were going to do it, but I was satisfied with that as well. When the staff came back and said “That was really good” I thought “Are there any greater compliments than that?” He says. “The movie Earwig and the Witch” will be released on 27th August 2021. It will also be shown at Dolby Cinemas where you can experience the latest sound system and screen technology. (C)2020 NHK, NEP, Studio Ghibli
