"Kyoto International Manga / Anime Fair 2023" (a.k.a. "Kyo Mafu 2023"), west Japan's largest manga/anime event, will be held on September 16 and 17. This year's event will be held with plenty of content such as collaboration projects with popular titles, exhibition booths, and stage events. "Kyoto Mafu" started in 2012 intending to expand the market for the content industry in the Kansai region centered on Kyoto by "creating new business opportunities utilizing manga and anime", "creating support for creators training and job opportunities", "attracting more tourists such as young people and foreigners", and "improving the brand power of Kyoto as a content city by disseminating manga and anime culture overseas." Not only has it become a big event with a lot of visitors in addition to manga/anime/game fans, but also it is now one of the biggest events in Kyoto that promote the industry by supporting creators and attracting more production companies to be established in Kyoto. This year marks the 12th anniversary. At "Miyako Messe" and "ROHM Theater Kyoto", which are the main venues of "Kyo Mafu," various projects will be held, such as exhibition booths of manga/anime/game, stage events with popular voice actors, and the Kyo Mafu shop to distribute official goods. In addition, there will be a "Traditional Craft Experience Workshop" where you can try unique Kyoto activities, a character cafe where you can enjoy drinks and food in collaboration with popular anime and manga, and a popular cosplay area. Furthermore, booth and stage exhibitors will be invited from "content companies related to manga, anime, game, etc.", "contents production companies utilizing advanced technologies such as Metaverse, XR, NFT, etc.", "companies, universities, and vocational schools related to the development of content human resources". Applications will be accepted from May 12 to Jun 12, so the companies, universities, and vocational schools that want to promote its own titles and products or sell merchandise at "Kyo Maf" should definitely submit an inquiry. The largest manga/anime event in western Japan, "Kyoto International Manga Anime Fair 2020" (known as Kyo Mafu) has been decided to be held on Sep. 19 and 20, 2020 at Miyako Messe (Kyoto Industrial Hall) and other venues. The lottery application of prior admission tickets started on Aug. 5. This time, voice actor, Yashiro Taku and VTuber, ChroNoiR (Nijisanji) will serve as "Kyo Mafu 2020 Welcome Ambassadors". The “Kyoto International Manga Anime Fair 2020” will be held, taking the maximum measures against infectious diseases considering of the operation based on the “new lifestyle” with the health and safety of visitors, exhibitors, and people involved the first priority. Yashiro and ChroNoiR, who have been appointed as Ambassadors of Kyo Mafu 2020, will also introduce the appeals of Kyo Mafu in various ways not only on the day of the event but also during the exhibition period. "Kyoto International Manga Anime Fair (KyoMaf) 2021" was held from September 18 to September 19, in Miyako Messe, Kyoto. The detailed information of Aniplex booth was announced together with a portion of the product lineup and the exhibition contents.
