The broadcast's start date of the TV anime "Woodpecker Detective's Office" has been decided on Apr. 13, 2020, the death anniversary of the protagonist of this work, Ishikawa Takuboku. In addition, six additional voice actors will be joining the cast including Tsuda Kenjirou, Ono Kenshou, and Saitou Souma. A key visual depicting the new characters, and a character PV footage have also been revealed. "Woodpecker Detective's Office" is originally a classic mystery novel by Ii Kei which won the 3rd Sogen Mystery Short Story Prize. A genius poet named Ishikawa Takuboku suffers from a shortage of money and decides to start a business as a detective under the name of "Woodpecker Detective's Office", in the wake of a certain murder case. Takuboku takes a deep interest with his assistant, Kindaichi Kyousuke, in many mysterious incidents, such as "The ghost haunting at the Ryouunkaku skyscraper in Asakusa", and "The cannibal doll wandering around the city on a snowy night". With the involvement of literary fellows including Nomura Kodou, Yoshii Isamu, Hagiwara Sakutarou, Wakayama Bokusui, and others, the scam genius poet Ishikawa Takuboku runs through the westernized Tokyo. The additional cast members that play the main characters have been announced. Tsuda Kenjirou will be voicing Nomura Kodou, Kyousuke's junior high school classmate and Takuboku's senior, Ono Kenshou will be voicing Hirai Tarou (later known as Edogawa Ranpo), a literary boy with a great curiosity, Saitou Souma in the role of Yoshii Isamu, rival of Ishikawa Takuboku, Umehara Yuuichirou playing Hagiwara Sakutarou, later known as the father of modern poetry, Makoto Furukawa playing Wakayama Bokusui, an active poet and student of Waseda University, and Hayashi Yukiya in the role of Akutagawa Ryuunosuke, who strongly admires Natsume Souseki. Furthermore, a key visual depicting the eight main characters drawn against the background of the townscape of Asakusa was revealed.
