It was announced that the “Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End” will be adapted into a TV anime series, and the broadcast is slated for 2023. Furthermore, the commemoration illustration by the original illustrator, Abe Tsukasa has been released.
“Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End” is written by Yamada Kanehito and drawn by Abe Tsukasa. It is an “epilogue” fantasy that is currently being serialized on “Weekly Shounen Sunday”. The story takes place in the world “after” the hero and his companions defeated the Demon King, and it depicts the mage Frieren’s, who has lived for more than a few centuries after defeating the Demon King with the hero, journey with her various new companions.
This work has attracted various readers due to the emotional dramas and lines developed from the brand new chronological system “After the defeat of the Demon King”, the battle with the magic and swords, the humour that will cause the unexpected laughter, and the story woven by the various characters. The manga has released a total of nine volumes with more than 7.5 million copies in circulation. It has caused a storm among the manga’s fans, since it has won the Grand Prize of “Manga Taisho 2021” and the New Creator Awards of “25th Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize”.
The anime adaptation was announced on September 13, 2022, and the phrase “Frieren’s Anime Adaptation” can be seen multiple times in the social network. Since it has also appeared in the trend ranking, this shows that it has become a hot topic not only with the original work’s fans, but also the anime fans, as well as their expectation toward the anime.
