The opening work of “Tokyo Anime Award Festival 2021” (to be held from March 12, 2021, to March 15, 2021, in Ikebukuro) is “Calamity”, the winner of the Cristal for a Feature Film in “Annecy International Animation Film Festival 2020”. The selected episode of the TV anime “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba” will also be screened. Also, the first sale of the ticket has started on February 10, 2021.
The opening work of “Tokyo Anime Award Festival 2021” (hereafter, known as TAAF2021) is “Calamity”, the latest work of the director Rémi CHAYÉ, who also produced “Long Way North”, the winner of the Feature Film Competition in “TAAF2016”.
It is also the winner of the Cristal for a Feature Film in “Annecy International Animation Film Festival”, and the Japanese dub of this worldwide popular work will be released for the first time.
After the screening of this work, special messages from the director Rémi CHAYÉ will be released along with the appearance of the cast members of the Japanese dub.
Also, episode 1 “Cruelty”, episode 4 “Final Selection”, and episode 19 “Hinokami” from “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba”, the Anime of the Year in “TAAF2020”, were selected to be screened.
“Tokyo Anime Award Festival 2021” will be held from March 12 to March 15, in Ikebukuro.
The ticket for the opening work “Calamity” Japanese dub has started since 12:00 noon, February 10, while the TV anime “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba” selection screening has started since 12:00 noon, February 11. Both tickets are priced at 1,200 JPY each (Same price for adults and students/ On-day ticket sales is 1,400 JPY).
