As part of the “Mobile Suit Gundam 40th Anniversary Project”, it has been revealed that “GUNDAM FACTORY YOKOHAMA”, in cooperation with Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture, will be open for about a year from Oct. 1, 2020. At the Yamashita Pier in Yokohama, an “Actual Size Mobile Gundam” appears.
“GUNDAM FACTORY YOKOHAMA” is a project realized under the “Gundam GLOBAL CHALLENGE”, which has been working towards the dream of “creating an 18-meter full-scale mobile Gundam and releasing it to the public” since 2014. The establishment will open as a result of several verifications, designs, and discussions made.
The facility has two areas; GUNDAM-DOCK, which is located at Yamashita Pier in Yokohama, and where you can actually see the “Mobile Gundam” up close, and GUNDAM-LAB, which contains facilities where you can learn all about its mechanism.
The establishment includes the “G-DOCK” (GUNDAM-DOCK), a deck that stores the “Mobile Gundam” and performs maintenance work, and a special viewing deck called “GUNDAM-DOCK TOWER” that allows visitors to see the mobile Gundam up close.
“G-LAB” (GUNDAM-LAB) includes an exhibition facility, “ACADEMY” where you can enjoy and learn about the mechanism of the “Mobile Gundam”, a communication space “CONFERENCE ROOM”, a shop space “THE GUNDAM BASE YOKOHAMA Satellite”, and a cafe “GUNDAM Cafe YOKOHAMA Satellite”.
In addition, it is planned to offer an original and attractive tour by Nippon Travel Agency.
“GUNDAM FACTORY YOKOHAMA” will be open for about a year from Oct. 1, 2020 to Oct. 3, 2021. Tickets will be on sale from Jul. 2020.
Before the opening, you will also be able to join a limited program, “GUNDAM FACTORY YOKOHAMA Special Experience” which is scheduled to be held from Jul. to Aug. 2020 only on weekends. More details will be announced on the official website etc.
