Madara of “Natsume’s Book of Friends” Becomes TSUTAYA’s “Store Manager for a Day”? T-Card and Card Case are Now Available!
TSUTAYA will release the 2022 version of “Natsume's Book of Friends” T-card designed with Madara as a “store manager for a day.” The item is now available for pre-order on the e-commerce website “T-Fan Site”along with another original item, “Sliding Card Case.” Natsume's Book of Friends" is an “ayakashi” story based on a manga serialized in "Monthly LaLa" by Midorikawa Yuki. Natsume Takashi, a lonely boy with a secret ability of seeing spirits, becomes pursued by ghosts ever since he came into possession of the "Book of Friends" left behind by his grandmother Reiko, who possessed powerful spiritual powers. Natsume and his self-proclaimed bouncer, Madara (a.k.a. Nyanko-sensei), lives a busy life involved in his grandmother's "contracts" with yokais. The anime started with the first season in 2008 and has been broadcast up to the sixth season so far. Movie versions have also been produced, with the first one, "Natsume's Book of Friends the Movie," being released in September 2018, followed by "Natsume's Book of Friends: The Waking Rock and the Strange Visitor," in January 2021. The voice actors are Hiroshi Kamiya as the main character Natsume and Kazuhiko Inoue as Madara. The design of the "T-Card (Natsume's Book of Friends 2022 ver.)," which is now accepting pre-order, features the popular character, Madara, as “TSUTAYA’s 1-day store manager.” The special illustration features Madara as he works hard— or dozes off comfortably. Meanwhile, the other item, “Sliding Card Case,” shows Madara as he works with yokais, buried in a pile of DVDs and turning his eyes around. The prices are 550 JPY for an issuance of “T-Card (Natsume's Book of Friends 2022 ver.)” and 1,540 JPY for the original item "Sliding Card Case Natsume's Book of Friends 2022 ver.", both including tax. Merchandise inspired by the TV anime "Kimagure Orange Road" (broadcast in 1987 - 1988) will be released at nationwide Tsutaya/Tsutaya Shoten stores. The release is scheduled for Nov. 15, which is the birthday of Hiyama Hikaru and Kasuga Kyousuke from this work. This is the 3rd series of goods inspired by '80s "Studio Pierrot" works. It is a Tsutaya/Tsutaya Shoten original project, which started with the aim to give a sense of nostalgia through goods inspired by anime from the good all days. There are 5 items in the lineup, T-shirts, Sweatshirt, Tote Bag, Crossbody Bag, and Apron. Pre-orders for the "Kimagure Orange Road" goods are accepted at Tsutaya shops, Tsutaya Shoten shops, and Tsutaya online shop, from 6:00 P.M.
