April 18 is the day of incense.
It is written in Nihon Shoki that an aromatic tree was drifted to Awaji Island in April 595, which became the origin of the anniversary. 18(十八 in Kanji) is set due to the wordplay of disassembling ‘香’ (aroma in Japanese).
Many of Anime!Anime! readers may have burnt incense or aroma for relaxation. In recent years, various fragrance products featuring the characters in anime or games have been released.
So, here at Anime!Anime!, we conducted the annual reader survey titled ‘Who seems to give off a pleasant smell?’. During the survey period from April 5 to April 12, a total of 200 responses were received. For the gender ratio, the females were the majority with about 80% while the males were about 20%. For the age distribution, we received the majority of responses from the readers of younger ages: about 65% were from minors, and 20% were in their twenties.
