“Pokémon Mezase Pokémon Master” (translated: Pokémon Aim to be a Pokémon Master, abbreviated: Meza-Poke) began airing in January 2023. It is the final chapter that concludes the 25-year journey that Satoshi and Pikachu have been on.

Some of you may have watched the “Pokémon” anime every week without fail as a child but have drifted away before you knew it.
However, “Meza-Poke” is a work that sticks with the generation that watched the early anime series. So, for those Pokémon trainers who once enjoyed adventures with Satoshi, here are four reasons why you should watch “Meza-Poké”!

■The Opening and Ending are too nostalgic!
The theme song of the “Pokémon” series is “Aim to be a Pokémon Master. Satoshi (CV: Matsumoto Rika) sings “Aim to be a Pokémon Master -with my friends-” as the Opening song for this title as well.

The music, as well as the video, is heartbreaking! Based on the Opening video of the first-generation “Pokémon” (hereafter referred to as “Muji”) that was broadcast from 1997, the content looks back on the adventures of Satoshi and his friends.

And there’s a nice touch in the ED! The song “One Hundred and Fifty-One,” which was played from the first to the twenty-seventh episode of “Mujirushi” has been restored with the images as they were at that time. Moreover, Dr. Orchid, played by Ishizuka Unsho, sings the song. Listening to his gentle singing voice, you may recall your childhood memories.

By the way, “Takeshi, Dent and the Forest Witch!” has a special Ending. The song “Takeshi’s Paradise” from episodes 157 to 162 is used.
The song was also revived with nostalgic images, and immediately after the broadcast, it received a huge response, with the song trending on social networking sites.

■Satoshi, Kasumi, and Takeshi reunite!

For Muji fans, the main human characters are Satoshi, Kasumi, and Takeshi.
Satoshi has always remained the main character, but the positions of Kasumi and Takeshi were taken by different characters in each series.

In “Meza-Poke,” the three-person journey of Satoshi, Kasumi, and Takeshi returns after a long absence!
You can enjoy familiar scenes of them fishing with the well-known “Kasumi-chan lure” and the scene where Kasumi pulls Takeshi’s ears to pull him away from his sister.
Be sure to check out the growth of the three and their unchanging charm!

■Meet the handheld Pokémon of the past!
“Meza-Poke” is also unique in that Satoshi changes the Pokémon in his possession each week. The friends he has acquired in the previous series will play an active role.

In particular, the “Burn! The Zenigame Fire Brigade!” features the reappearance of Fushigidane, Zenigame, and Lizardon, who evolved from Hitokage and are beloved by fans as the first three members of the family. The three Pokémon, which are usually in different places, gather under Satoshi’s care for the first time in a long while, and show their combined play.
The Pokémon that Satoshi raised are active in various regions, which should make you happy from a parent’s point of view: “They’ve become so splendid ……!”

Also, although it is not a handheld of the past generation, a wild Latias appears in this film from the beginning. It seems to be secretly watching over Satoshi’s journey.

■No problem if there’s a blank period!
The “Pokémon” TV anime series has been a long-running series for more than 25 years. Some of you may have given up watching “Meza-Poke” saying, “I haven’t seen the episodes in the middle of the series, so I’ll just watch …….” However, there is no need to worry about that in this work! Because it is made in such a way that you can understand the story no matter which episode you watch first.

Sometimes, characters from past generations appear in addition to Kasumi and Takeshi, but Satoshi will introduce them to you. Even if you see a Pokémon you don’t know, you will say, “There was such a Pokémon!” and you can let your eyes light up like when you were watching the Mujirushi.

One thing to keep in mind as advance information is that Satoshi won the Masters Tournament just before “Meza-Poke” and became the World Champion. Having achieved his long-cherished dream of winning a Pokémon battle tournament, Satoshi is finally facing his dream from the beginning: to become the world’s number one Pokémon master.

The 2019 “Pokémon” episode 132, “The Finals IV: ‘Partner’,” which depicts the Pokémon League finals, has some nostalgic scenes, so if you’re interested, be sure to check out the latest episode of “Meza-Poké” on video sites such as Hulu, U-NEXT and Paravi. on video sites such as Hulu, U-NEXT, and Paravi.
