The OVA series by Gainax “Gunbuster” releases a reprint of its comprehensive collection released in 2012: “The collection of GUNBUSTER / DIEBUSTER and more”. Pre-orders started at “A-on STORE” and other sites on February 4, 2022.

Released as a 6-episode OVA (Original Video Animation) between 1988~1989, “Gunbuster” is a groundbreaking animation that mixes the seemingly totally unrelated genres of Bishojo, Giant Robots, and Spokon (Fighting Spirit).
Touching on science fiction themes such as time dilation and relativity theory, the anime was highly acclaimed for its world building, receiving the “21st Seiun Award” under the “Best Dramatic Presentation” category in 1990.

The sequel “Gunbuster 2: Diebuster” was produced and released also as 6-episode animation between 2004~2006. With Tsurumaki Furuya, who also directed “FLC”, as the director of the second installment, the story brings brand new characters from a different age to the same universe as the first animation.

“Gunbuster” and “Gunbuster 2” were later re-edited and merged into a theatrical edit “Gunbuster vs. Diebuster: Aim for the Top! The GATTAI!! Movie”, premiering on October 2006.

The item of which pre-order already started, “The collection of GUNBUSTER / DIEBUSTER and more (Reprint) ”, is a comprehensive collection which features not only “Gunbuster” and “Gunsbuter 2: Diebuster”, but also the spin-off light novel and manga “Gunbuster NeXT GENERATION”, covering the lore spanning from the entire series.

It encompasses breakdowns of the series’ background, unreleased archives, fully detailed commentaries, a chronological table displaying the entire timeline of the franchise, and a discussion column between the character designers Mikimoto Haruhiko x Sadamoto Yoshiyuki. The book is a must-have for “top” fans.

“The collection of GUNBUSTER / DIEBUSTER and more (Reprint)” is priced at 3,800JPY (tax excluded). Pre-orders are available at “A-on STORE”, “Premium Bandai”, and other sites until March 9, 2022, with shipping scheduled for April 16.
