‘Odd Taxi: In the Woods’, the new movie from the ‘Odd Taxi’ series, will premiere on April 1st, 2022 in Japan. The movie will reconstruct the TV series and also unveil what happens after the shocking final episode. The official website has disclosed the poster visual and the official trailer, which tells the story from a new point of view with “the seventeen testimonies”.

The official trailer shows seventeen people giving testimonies about the case they and Odogawa, the taxi driver, were involved in. Although the film is a reconstruction of the TV anime, the eerie atmosphere of the trailer gives the audience the sense that the movie depicts the story from a new point of view.

The trailer begins with excessively ominous music. Soon, one man starts by saying, “That taxi driver doesn’t make any sense. I heard that he picks up a missing high school girl and has something to do with the gangs.” The scene then switches to Odogawa standing still under the rain. What is happening?

After the same man continues, “We’ll have to ask the people around him”, other characters take over and give a rash of ominous testimonies about Odogawa – “He has been different from the old days. He is such a sarcastic man who hates others”, “He picked up the high school girl from Nerima”, “He wouldn’t hesitate in murdering to push his way to the top.
The witnesses continue to give ominous testimonies one after another. “You are the liar, you poor man”, “How could you ever say things like that!” “What if I say no?” “Then I’ll kill you” “Stop, teacher!” “I have tons of things I regret” “Why does a taxi driver need to go that far?”

What do these lines and testimonies signify?

As it gets close to the end, the trailer shows a taxi with Odogawa’s voice saying “To where?”. Then the trailer ends with Odogawa’s laughter from the final episode and his line, “You don’t remember what happened, do you?”. What does his question mean? And what is the fate that awaits Odogawa? Wait to find out the contour of the case revealed from the 17 testimonies and the “after story” of the shocking final episode.

The visual poster disclosed with the trailer shows Odogawa standing in the middle of the bustle of the city. This poster is equally mysterious as the trailer by having the characters from “Odd Taxi” weave their way through the crowd with expressionless faces. Its tagline, “The truth is in mystery,” is also meaningful and makes the fans wonder what would happen in the film. What truth will we discover in the movie?

‘Odd Taxi: In the Woods’ will be on screen from April 1st, 2022, at theaters nationwide, including TOHO Cinemas Shinjuku. There will also be Mubichike tickets with a special gift at 1,500 yen (tax-included) from February 4th.
