It has been announced that “Words Bubbling Up Like Cider”, an original anime for theaters, will be released on Jun 25, 2021. The release has been postponed due to the spread of the COVID-19.
“Words Bubbling Up Like Cider” is an original anime for theaters themed on “Words X Music”, and depicts a ‘youth story during the summer’.
It is directed by Ishiguro Kyohei known for “Your Lie in April” and “Children of the Whales”. He also has a reputation for his subtle depiction of feelings.
The boy-meets-girl story follows Cherry, a boy who likes haiku and has a little trouble communicating with others, and Smile, a girl who hides behind a mask. They meet in a suburban shopping mall in a provincial city and get closer to each other through words and music.
At Tokyo International Film Festival, where the release date was announced, the director Ishiguro Kyohei talked about the theme “Words X Music”, saying ‘Speaking of haiku, the relation between haiku and Japanese rap was featured in a book that contains a conversation between Ito Seiko, who started Japanese rap music, and Kaneko Touta, a poet. For example, rhyming and In wo Fumu(=rhyming in haiku)’ ‘Haiku has a root in music, and I reconciled it with the work.’
Furthermore, Ichikawa Somegorou the 8th will play the role of Cherry. He challenged playing in film, voice acting, and playing protagonist for the first time. Sugisaki Hana, who has a reputation for her ability in expression even though she is still young, will play the role of Smile. Other cast include Yamadera Koichi, Han Megumi, Hanae Natsuki, Kamiya Hiroshi, and Sakamoto Maaya.
Redesigned movie ticket is being on sale from Nov. 20. The former version is still valid.
