It was announced that “Space Battleship Yamato 2199” and “Space Battleshipser Yamato 2202: Ai No Senshi Tachi” will be released on Jan. 15th, 2021.
Information on the Blu-ray special limited edition and digital cell edition, which will be released on the same day, was also announced, and we have also received a comment from Fukui Harutoshi, who composed, supervised and wrote the script.
“Space Battleship Yamato” (or sometimes known as Star Blazers) is a 120 minute special compilation of “Space Battleship Yamato 2199” and “Space Battleship Yamato 2202: Ai No Senshi Tachi” remade by Fukui Harutoshi with new cuts and newly recorded narration.
The film documents all of the battles that have been fought in the history of humanity and space, with a focus on “Space Battleship Yamato 2202: Ai No Senshi Tachi”, starting with the Apollo moon landing in 1969, the voyage to Iscander in 2199, and the Battle of Atlantis in 2202.
The teaser visual by Kato Naoyuki depicts Yamato’s voyage from the past to the year 2202, which has been a beacon of hope through the centuries.
The first round of advance tickets for the Movie Ticket Card will be priced at 1,600 JPY (tax included). The teaser visual comes with a B2 size poster featuring a timeline of the film and will go on sale at midnight on Sep.r 26th on the Major website and at theaters from Oct. 2nd.
In addition, a Blu-ray box set containing both “Space Battleship Yamato 2199” and “Space Battleship Yamato 2202: Ai No Senshi Tachi” will be released on Mar. 26, 2021.
In addition, “Space Battleship Yamato 2202: Symphony Suite: Space Battleship Yamato 2202”, a CD featuring the BGM of “Space Battleship Yamato 2202: Ai No Senshi Tachi”, will be released on Jan. 15, 2021.

The world of the Space Battleship Yamato remake series that was depicted in Space Battleship 2199 and 2202 is not just an updated version of the original, but a literal world built on metaphor and satire of our reality. It is a mirror image that offers hints and hope for those of us who tend to get stuck in these harsh times. Before watching our latest film, 2205: A New Departure, we will take you on a journey to re-examine the world from the beginning. Not from 1…but from 0. Arriving on the moon, settling on Mars, the first contact with an alien civilization. It’s a journey of the unknown, branching out from reality and venturing out of the galaxy with the new footage.
