Nov.22 is known as “Good Couples Day”.

This anniversary is first established in 1988 to commemorate how “11(Ii) 22(Fufu) ” sounded very similar to “Good Couple” in Japanese. Since 2000, an event called “Good Couple Partner of the Year” has been hosted annualy to pick the ideal couple. There has been an increase in couples getting married on Nov. 22 as well.

There have also been countless number of couples drawn in anime. From couples that are so lovely-dovely that they have never fought to couples that hardly converse but seem to understand their partners well, there are so many types of married couples.

Then, Anime!Anime! had a survey asking readers for the first time in two years: “What anime married couple do you admire the most?”. The survey ran from Nov.8 to 15 and collected responses from a total of 94 people.

The responder of the survey consisted of 35% male and 65% female readers, 50% of the readers that responded were under 19 years old, followed by 30% for readers in their 20’s.

■Naruto & Hinata The strongest ninja couple takes the top!

First place goes to “Boruto: Naruto Next Generations”‘s Uzumaki Naruto and Hinata. The approval ratings for this couple came to about 12%.
There were many comments on their unwavering trust for each other being the reason for their votes, with one of the comments stated: “Because they are a harmonious couple that makes a good family” . The couple that first got together in “THE LAST -NARUTO THE MOVIE-” and continued showing us their affection for each other in the sequel has taken the top!

Second place is a tie between Kudo Yusaku and Yumiko from “Detective Conan” and Fujiwara Shigeru and Touko from “Natsume’s Book of Friends”. Their approval ratings came to about 9%.

The Kudo couple, which comprises of a writer and an actress, have received comments such as “They’re both really famous people and help Conan. It also helps that they share a good relationship.” and “They’re perfectly in sync as a couple”. There were not a lot of comments regarding their relationship but the overall consensus was that “They always help Conan when he’s in a pinch which shows just how trustworthy they are”.

The Fujiwara couple are distant relatives of the main character,Natsume Takashi. Natsume spends his daily life with them. There were many comments centered around the viewers being drawn to their kind personalities such as: “I like how the conversations between talkative Touko-san and the quiet Shigeru-san reveal their gentle love to us!” and “I really admire how they treat and raise Natsume like their very own son.”. There was even a comment stating “I especially loved “Touko and Shigeru,” the episode about them!”.

Kirito and Asuna from “Sword Art Online”: “They are the strongest ideal couple!!” and “Theysuit each so well and they are both so cool!”

The Father and Mother from “Atashinchi”: “I like how the mother understands what the father wants simply by his one worded answers.”.

Nohara Hiroshi and Misae from “Crayon Shin-chan”: “They usually seem slightly unreliable and irresponsible but I feel like they do think of their children and want to protect them. They are a balanced couple in a way since the mother is strict and the father is nice.”

Saiki Kuniharu and Kurumi from “The Disastrous Life of Saiki K.” Comments such as “They are so lovey-dovey that even their son ignores them!” and “I’ve never seen a couple get along so well! (Although it is a little creepy…)” as well as the fact that the characters’ voice actors are both a couple in real life has garnered them votes.

This survey’s results highlighted a number of couples that can be relied on more than the main character when disaster strikes, and makes us want to see more!
