It is an anniversary established due to the words play “Ro (6) Ku (9)”.

Rock-and-roll was born in the United States in the 1950s and spread all over the world as rock in the 1960s. There are many enthusiastic rock music in anime songs.
Also, the word rock goes beyond the genre of music and is often used in people’s way of life and beliefs. Many rock characters have appeared in anime and games and have stoled fans’ hearts.

Here at Anime!Anime!, we conducted a reader survey entitled “Speaking about ‘rock’ character / anime song, what comes to your mind first?” We received responses from 143 people during the survey period from May 27 to June 3.
The male-female ratio is about 20% for males and about 80% for females. About 55% of the age group was 19 years old or younger, and about 20% were in their 20s.

In this article, we will announce the results of “Speaking about ‘rock’ characters, who comes to your mind first?”

■ Characters who have performed songs are ranked high!
1st place
1st place goes to Kurosaki Ranmaru from “Uta no Prince-sama” with an approval rating of about 13%.

Kurosaki Ranmaru is a member of the unit QUARTET NIGHT. He is a rock lover, and Rock-kun, skull and crossbones with his sign is also popular. Readers commented on his rock-overflowed soul, “He loves rock so much, that he even sealed-up his idol activity. It is amazing.”

2nd place
2nd place goes to Jirou Kyouka from “My Hero Academia” with an approval rating of about 11%.

Jirou Kyouka is a hero candidate with a Quirk related to the sound of “earphone jack”. She was also in charge of vocals in the band formed for the school festival, and when classmates asking her, she says, “If I don’t respond to your repeated request,… It does not rock.”. Readers commented, “A cool female hero who fights with sound! I think, she is the rock queen of the anime songs world.”

3rd place
3rd place goes to Ogami Koga from “Ensemble Stars!” with an approval rating of about 6%.

Ogami Koga is a member of the unit UNDEAD. The character who calls himself a ‘lone wolf’ with a stoic way of life that, gained popularity, and there are comments like, “The most memorable rock character”, and “The black visuals are rock-like.”

The top-3 includes characters who have formed units or bands in the anime.

In the rock characters survey, the characters from the titles based on songs are ranked high. Although it is a school thing such as “My Hero Academia”, “The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya”, and “Angel Beats!”, voting is also gathered for vocals from titles that have live scenes in the anime.
