It has been announced that the manga “Terra Formars” will resume serialization starting from the 18th issue of “Weekly Young Jump” released on April 4th. This mega-hit series, which began serialization in 2011 and has surpassed 22 million copies in circulation, has returned after a five-year hiatus. To commemorate this, all chapters are available for free for a limited time on the “Young Jump!” app starting from March 28th.
“Terra Formars” is a science fiction action series based on the original story by Yuu Sasuga and illustrated by Kenichi Tachibana. It started in the inaugural issue of the special edition “Miracle Jump” in 2011 and later moved to “Weekly Young Jump” in 2012. The story depicts a 20-year war spanning two generations between humans and humanoid creatures called “Terraformars,” which evolved unexpectedly from cockroaches due to the “Terraforming Project” on Mars.
With over 22 million copies of the 22 volumes in circulation, “Terra Formars” ranked first in the “Men’s Division” in “Kono Manga ga Sugoi! 2013” and second in the “Recommended Comics Selected by Bookstore Clerks Nationwide 2013.” It was also adapted into an anime series in 2014 and a live-action film in 2016. Due to the original author’s health issues, the series has been on hiatus since issue 52 in 2018 (released on November 29, 2018). However, serialization will resume in the 18th issue of “Weekly Young Jump” on April 4th, marking its return after five years.
Furthermore, to celebrate the resumption of serialization, all chapters of the manga are now available for free for a limited time on the “Young Jump!” manga app. This offer is valid until April 24, covering all chapters up to March 28. Additionally, a serialization resumption announcement PV has been released on the YouTube channel “Young Jump Manga TV [Shueisha Weekly Young Jump Official].”
