The “Niconico Chokaigi 2023” was held for real at Makuhari Messe in Chiba for two days on April 29 and 30, and 118,797 people are announced to attend the event.

The event’s concept is to “reproduce on earth all (approximately) of Nico Nico Douga,” which has more than 90 million registered members. This year, as a new experiment, “Creator X 2023 Spring – CREATOR CROSS – Supported by JNCA” (formerly “Creator Market”), a booth where users can freely express themselves, was set up as a large area at the entrance of the venue, where creators, performers in other booths, and visitors can interact beyond genres to further activate the NicoNico community.

In addition, this year it was possible to cheer if you were wearing a mask, which made it possible to cheer at stages such as Cho Kabuki “Otogi Zoshi Koinosugatae”, “VTuber Fes Japan 2023 Supported by Paidy” and “Cho-Vocanico 2023 Supported by Tobu Top Tours”. As well as that, at the new “Super Sauna” booth, Kobayashi Sachiko herself appeared in the “Kobayashi Sachiko Health Land” sauna produced by Kobayashi Sachiko and sang her new song “Atsu atsu ni shite ageru ♪” live, and at the “Super Grand Sumo” booth, which returned after a six-year absence, there were performances by current sumo wrestlers and Nisshinoseki Stable Head (the 72nd Yokozuna Kisenosato), Miyagino Stable Head (the 69th Yokozuna Hakuho), and the Kakuryu Stable Head (the 71st Yokozuna Kakuryu) also cooked chanko-nabe (a famous dish sumo wrestlers eat) with users, and in the “Cho-Shogi” booth, 9-dan Amahiko Sato and 8-dan Tetsuro Itodani played 100 quick shogi games in two days. The event was a great success.

Since the event also focused on cosplay, there was a stage where cosplayers took the stage to walk and perform, a display of homemade cosplay items by cosplayers who are good at modeling, and a “cosplay dog” program where veteran cosplayers could repair cosplay costumes (broken parts, frayed threads, peeling paint, etc.) on the spot. Unfortunately, it was rainy and cloudy on the second day, but there were many cosplayers and photographers who enjoyed taking pictures in the recommended cosplay shooting area.
