“City Hunter” is an anime based on the comic of the same title by Hojo Tsukasa, which was serialized in “Weekly Shonen Jump” (Shueisha) from 1985 to 1991.
Set in Shinjuku, this hard-boiled comedy anime depicts a touching, serious, and humorous story of the lives of Saeba Ryo, a legendary sweeper in the underworld known as “City Hunter,” and his partner, Makimura Kaori.

Since its first TV anime broadcast in 1987, the series has become a blockbuster hit that a special TV program and an animated film were produced. Moreover, “City Hunter The Movie: Shinjuku Private Eyes,” the first film created in 20 years, was released as a part of the project that celebrates the 30th anniversary of the anime broadcast. This film became a blockbuster hit that grossed over 1.5 billion yen. The production of the new animated film, which was announced in April this year, has also been in the center of attention.

This time, “Natsukashi Anime 80’s Channel” on “ABEMA” will broadcast “City Hunter The Movie: Shinjuku Private Eyes” for free for the first time in Japan on November 27, 2022, at 5 P.M. In addition, all episodes of the “City Hunter” anime series will be broadcast in sequence every day from November 19 to November 26.
