In commemoration of its 10th anniversary, the TV anime “Waiting in the Summer” will release new merchandise using an illustration by Tanaka Masayoshi, the chief animation director and character designer. The project was established by the Komoro Tourism Bureau of Komoro City, Nagano Prefecture, where the work was set.
“Waiting in the Summer” is an original TV anime produced by J.C. STAFF under the direction of Nagai Tatsuyuki, which was broadcast from January to March 2012. With the tagline “The memories of that summer will become our eternity,” the work depicts a summer of youth and love for high school students through their independent film production.
Even after ten years, many fans still visit Komoro City in Nagano Prefecture, where the film was set, to make a pilgrimage to the holy land. The 10th anniversary commemorative illustration was created by Tanaka Masayoshi, who served as the chief animation director and character designer, and depicts the main characters, including Kirishima Kaito, who has grown up over the past 10 years, gathered at the same place they were at that time.
Commemorative merchandise using this illustration will be released, such as “A4 acrylic poster” and “poster set. The “A4 acrylic poster” will be available at the Komoro Tourism Bureau online store from July 14 at 9:00 p.m., and the “poster set” will be on sale in Komoro City from August 6.
In addition to this, in Komoro City, a truck wrapped with the illustration of “Waiting in the Summer” will be displayed in the parking lot of Hachijuni Bank’s Komoro branch on August 6, and “Natsumachi” fans from all over Japan will gather to dance at the Komoro Citizens’ Festival “Komoro Dokansho” on the same day. Fans are encouraged to visit the event.
