Speaking of annual events in October, you will think of Halloween.
“Ikebukuro Halloween Cosplay Fes 2021” has been held on site for the first time in 2 years on October 30 and 31. Many of the Anime!Anime! readers may want to cosplay as characters in anime and games.
Therefore, Anime!Anime! conducted a reader survey titled “Who would you like to try cosplaying as?”. During the survey period from October 17 – 24, a total of 56 responses were received. For the gender ratio, the females were the majority with about 70% while the males were about 30%. For the age distribution, we received the majority of responses from the young readers: about 50% were from teens, and 35% were from those in their 20s.
We will introduce the results for the female characters edition in this article.
■The character with multiple sides has won some votes!
The most voted title in this female characters edition was “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba”. From this title, 5 characters, Kamado Nezuko, Kocho Shinobu, Tsuyuri Kanao, Kanroji Mitsuri, and Daki, have received votes.
For Nezuko, a reader actually saw other people cosplaying as her and wants to do it, saying “I saw a lot of people cosplaying as Nezuko on social media, and they are so cute”. The received comments for Kanroji Mitsuri include, “Only people who have a good figure can be dressed up as her, so I will not do anything more than just saying ‘I want to try’ (laugh)”, and the comments for Daki, a holder of the position of Upper Rank Six that appears in Entertainment District Arc, include “It would be such a skimpy costume, so I want to try even more” from a reader that wants to try cosplaying as her.
Just like the male characters edition, the title released in 2021 is also popular.
Tohru “Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid”
“She wears a maid costume with a long skirt, which will be easy to try. Combined with the factors of the other species, a dragon, it would be cute!”
Tsukuyo “Gintama”
“We may have a sophisticated image for kimono, but Tsukuyo puts it in a really classy style by showing her arm or wearing a unique kimono with a slit, which is cool.”
Nakano Nino “The Quintessential Quintuplets”
“Nino is bossy yet tsundere. I want to try both long and short hairstyle.”
Ramiris “That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime”
“I was thinking that I want to try either an elf or fairy. However, the one who fulfills both of my dreams is Ramiris. Her costume itself is pretty”.
The characters that have multiple sides stand out.
Furthermore, the characters who seem to be perfect for Halloween have also received votes.
Toga Himiko “My Hero Academia”
“She is a member of the League of Villains. She likes blood, so I want to try a ‘painful’ cosplay that matches her well.”
Princess Syalis “Sleepy Princess in the Demon Castle”
“As the title shows, the story takes place in the demon castle. Princess Syalis is cute, and I want to try making a hairband of her crown.”
We listed the titles with the characters winning multiple votes below. The characters from the titles that depict historic dramas, in which unique costumes show up, that gain a national reputation, and that feature idols dressed in cute costumes seem to be especially popular. The results will make you excited to see how people actually got dressed up for Halloween.
