The teaser visual of the film “RE:cycle of the PENGUINDRUM”, which is a recompilation of director Ikuhara Kunihiko’s original anime “Penguindrum”, has been released.
“Penguindrum” is an original anime that was broadcast on TV in July 2011. This is a work that has attracted the attention of anime fans during the TV broadcast due to the unique characters drawn by Hoshino Lily, the riddle within riddles developments of “What’s ‘Penguindrum’?”, and the world setting that used a unique visual, such as the crystal world.
“RE:cycle of the PENGUINDRUM” is a recompilation of the TV series with new original scenes and it will be released in two parts.
The teaser visual depicts the new work that was reborn after 10 years as well as a premonition of a new riddle.
At the same time, the release of “Penguindrum Blu-ray RE:BOX ‘Time Limited Edition'”, which has a different specification from the Blu-ray Box of the TV series that was released in 2015, has been announced.
It will contain 6 discs featuring the 24 episodes and bonus footage and a booklet with the excerpt and re-edit from Blu-ray Vol.1-8 that were released during the TV broadcast in 2011.
The two parts of the recompiled film “RE:cycle of the PENGUINDRUM” will premiere in 2022.
“Penguindrum Blu-ray RE:BOX ‘Time Limited Edition'” is priced at 20,000 JPY (tax included) and the release is on December 22, 2021.
